Fayose Fires Education Secretaries In LGs, As PDP Berates Fayemi For Planting Flowers With N4 Billion
The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Peter
Ayo Fayose has ordered the sack of all the local government education
secretaries.
According to a press statement
issued in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,
Mr Idowu Adelusi, the sack takes immediate effect and the affected secretaries
are to hand over government property in their care to the most senior officers
next to them.
The Education Secretaries were
appointed by the erstwhile government led by Dr Kayode Fayemi in all the 16
local government areas of the state to take care of education related matters
in each of the councils.
Meantime, the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, in Ekiti State has berated ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi for
spending N4 billion on the planting of flowers.
The party equally blamed
the Fayemi’s administration for allegedly plunging the state into
huge debt, which according to the party has remained unparalleled in
the history of the state.
According to the statement made
available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday by the party’s Publicity Secretary,
Pastor Kola Oluwawole, the party faulted Fayemi for spending so much on the
planting of flowers under the guise of a beatification project without anything
to show for it.
The PDP image maker equally
blasted Fayemi for his alleged mismanagement of the state
resources.
His words: “In a state like ours,
which is agrarian, nearly N4 billion was spent by the Fayemi government on the
planting of flowers in Ado-Ekiti, while farmers were left to their fate.
“ We can all see how terribly that
project ended.”
The party said it is not surprised
by the huge debt left behind by the administration of former Governor Kayode
Fayemi, saying such has become the trait of those who tagged themselves
progressives who had ruled the state at one time or the other.
