Chairman National Sports Commission (NSC) and Minister of Sports, Dr. Tammy Danagogo on Monday received the world biggest boxing glove in Nigeria, ahead of the November 28 world title fight holding in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

According to Emmaco Sports Limited executive, Emmanuel Emenogu the glove is expected to travel round the country where stakeholders, governors, and top individuals will show their support by pending their signatures on the glove as part of their commitment for the upcoming event.
He said: “We are currently embarking on a national enlightenment tour to preach unity among the people. In the actual sense, we are using the gloves to bring peace, unity and togetherness in Nigeria. More so, we are using it to help people who have been displaced by the Boko Haram insurgence in the North.
“As you can see, we are also using it to raise funds for the November 28 world title fight to be staged in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. As a matter of fact, we want to change the face of boxing in Nigeria.”
“It is indeed a collective effort; that is why we took it off from the office of the honourable minister of sports in Abuja. The glove is going round, and many people are already putting their signature on it as a mark of support for the event. State governments, government paracetals, corporate bodies, corporate individuals are not going to be left out, because we want to unify Nigeria, and also promote the dying game of boxing in the country.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian boxers expected to grace the event include: United Kingdom multiple title holder, King Davidson Emenogu, American based junior bantam weight champion, Gifted Cole, World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa and Commonwealth super middleweight champion, Isaac Ekpo, Africa light heavyweight champion, Jude Ilo, American based cruiser weight champion, Lateef ‘Power’Kayode, among several others.
