Boko Haram :Nigerian Army Insists It Has Killed The Invincible Abubaka Shekau

Less than two weeks after the military authorities confirmed that the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau’s impostor had died in battle against troops in Konduga, Borno State, the supposedly dead man has come out to claim that he is very much alive.

But the Defence Headquarters has insisted that Abubakar Shekau was killed in a battle between the insurgents and troops in Konduga last September.
The DHq made this known in response to a video reportedly released by the Boko Haram, showing their leader, Abubakar Shekau.
“From immediate observation and what some online news outlets claimed to have seen, the video did not indicate when it was shot neither did it show any proof of life or currency such as screen time or date,” the DHq said in a statement.
According to the statement, no reference to anything that has happened since the impostor’s reported death in the video.
“It is also noteworthy that the air plane said to be mentioned in the video had been missing before he was killed.”
“It should not surprise anybody if the terrorists decide to manipulate pictures, clone another Shekau or upload a pre-recorded video all in a bid to prove invincible,” the statement added.
The defence headquarters claimed that the individual who appeared in the video, claiming to be the leader of the terrorist group was killed in the Kondunga battle in September.
“The resemblance of the corpse and that of the eccentric character was incontrovertible.”
The statement added that people who knew Shekau confirmed that he was the one killed before his death was announced.
The DHq however noted that “justice will be served to whoever bears that name or designation.”

It was reported earlier that Boko Haram insurgents leader, Abubakar Shekau had released a 36 minutes recorded video of himself in action at the dreaded camp and the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, we gathered is laying claims to be in possession of the footages.

According to snippets from the video, Shekau is said to have made a mockery of the Nigerian Army saying “here I am, am alive, I’ll only die the day Allah takes my breath, we’re running our…Islamic caliphate and administering Sharia punishments”, he was quoted to have said.

It would be recalled however that the Nigerian Army had days back claimed that a high-ranking insurgent posing as Shekau had been killed in a serious gun dwell in Konduga, a Borno community and a pictorial evidence showing the body of the man being mercilessly maimed was shown to the world as a proof thereby leaving the Nigerian nation to jubilation and sort of relief to the beginning of the end of insurgents..

The question now is, ‘Who’s fooling who’. Time will tell.
