Associate Prof of Law , Dr M. N Umenweke Petitions Anambra Commissioner Of Police Over N800, 000 Extortion And Police Complicity
Unless the Anambra state police commissioner Mr
Hassan Karma wants further court action and media explanations , he would be
investigating the petition filed by Dr Umenweke, an Associate Professor of law and Principal solcitor Dr .M.N Umenweke and Associates (His Glory Chambers Awka) over the complicity of his men in extorting N800,000 from one Emeka Robert
Chinweuba by one Fashola reports Odogwu Media. The police connection is pathetic.

Sir,
RE:AIDING THE ESCAPE OF A SUSPECT IN THE POLICE CUSTODY: A
CASE OF COMPLICITY AND COMPROMISE IN THE CRIMINAL ACT OF OBTAINING BY FALSE
PRETENCE – A PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION
We are Solicitors to Mr. Emeka Robert Chinweuba (who will be
herein after referred to as “Our Client”) and we have his definite instructions
to address you as follows:
It is our instruction that one Mr. Fashola made a
representation to our client that he deals on herbal medicine on the strength
of which our client accepted to transact with the said Mr. Fashola.
It is out further instruction that the said Mr. Fashola
obtained the sum of N800,000.00 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) only from our
client under false pretences. Mr. Fashola disappeared into thin air with our
client’s hard earned money.
It is our further instruction that our client made a
report of the criminal activities of the said Mr. Fashola at Central Police
Station, (C.P.S) Awka. The said Mr. Fashola was arrested and detained at the
CPS, Awka on 24/09/2014 around 7am owing to the sustained efforts of our client.
It is our instruction that about 3pm of the same 24/09/2014
when our client came back to the station, Inspector Linus who is the
investigating Police Officer (I.P.O) unabashedly told our client that Mr.
Fashola had escaped from detention and no further plausible explanation was
given to our client as to the whereabouts of the suspect, and how he escaped
from the custody of the CPS, Awka.
It is out further instruction that all attempts by out
client to ensure that discreet investigation is carried into this case
has proved abortive as the apparent complicity of the police at CPS, Awka has
more than ever frustrated our client’s efforts at getting justice and recovering
his money.
In view of the above Sir, we have been instructed to
petition your good office with a view to causing a discreet investigation into
this matter and particularly unravel the circumstances surrounding the escape
of a detained suspect. We also pray that the suspect and the collaborator that
aided his escape be brought to book.
Do most kindly use your good office to come to our client’s
aid.
You have the best assurances of our warmest regards.
Yours faithfully,
M. Nnama Uwenweke
