There is difference between real party man and the charlatans masquerading as party men , so said Okwukwe Ibiam in this epistle to Ikenna Anokwute. Enjoy
Ikenna,
APGA is bigger than the space
between your key board and screen. You really need to leave the confines of
your living room, buy a ticket, go to Nigeria, book an appointment with the
echelons of the party, tell them your well-grounded intentions. They are very
receptive and will give you all the go-ahead to begin the Chapter in your local
ward, village, local Government as you see fit. We really need dedicated men
who follow our party issues like you do. That way, when we come campaigning, we
can rely on the structure IKENNA ANOKWUTE built.
Regarding the ex-Governor, we are no
longer crying over spilt milk. We were not caught unawares by his move. Please
read all the postings from 2 years back, including PETER OBI CANNOT BE OUR
NATIONAL LEADER. When we wrote the above article, people thought we didn't
understand the ramifications of peter's presentation. We did.
We warned and prepared our selves for this kind of eventuality. If you
also read, when the National Chairman - Chief Victor Umeh, warned the
ex-governor that ignoring the APGA grassroots was killing the Party, the
Governor sent his Uncle Nwobu-Alor to initiate and sustain an intra-party
fight. That should tell you that the party echelon had their fingers on the party
pulse, knew what ailed the party, and voiced same when appropriate.
In the party, everybody has their
function. If you start neglecting yours, It does affect the Party structure and
everyone.
APGA survived Peter Obi's
neglect, and many other wranglings, because of few strong men who believed in
the Party ideals and what it meant for the Igbo. With Peter Obi in
the APGA then, we made the best of a bad situation. APGA refused to
conflagrate it. That was not the kind of publicity we wanted.
But, what we will not do is stand by
and watch others denigrate our party because of a situation which had been in
flux for over 9 years. If you really have your ears to
the ground, you will find out that no true APGA member is crying over PETER
OBI. That is the gospel truth. None. Take an opinion poll or straw vote of
Anambra or the Nigerian nation. APGA prepared itself for this day. And
we are fine. The Handwriting was on the wall. The APGA is very capable of
holding its own if people we trust with our ideals and votes uphold
theirs. You will be hailing the APGA from your living room, because there are
dedicated men willing to sustain the APGA virtues. All they need is some
encouragement. some.
That APGA was sustained over this
period was due to the presence of our Late National Leader -Dim odimegwu
Ojukwu, dedicated leaders like Our national chairman - Chief sir Victor Umeh,
The National secretary, Alhaji sani Shinkafi, which men purposefully stood
for a focus and made sure we did not stray even when left with scanty or no
resources. Also the South-East electorate everywhere who glanced
warily at peter's presentations, silently thinking "What's this guy
doing?", We've seen this attitude before. It's not the presentation we
want." Believe me, the SE electorate is very conscious of APGA
irrespective of their party affiliation. Including you. Believe that!
Peter obi was simply a
beneficiary of the OJUKWU support system. Nothing else. That support
system is still there. Don' try to underestimate it. Help us to meaningfully
revive it.
My fear with your prolific writing
IKENNA, is your lack of background knowledge in some your analysis. You
seem to be carried away by your own expectations rather than the hard realities
involved in building and sustaining a political party. If you demonstrate in
APGA the sort of faith you demonstrate in your questionable analysis, your
readers will actually have a rethink.
Just remember, Good publicity helps
our party cause. You seem to demonstrate some strength here. APGA can use
some, and thanks you for providing same in advance.
Ndewo.
