
Two relatives -Mallam Yinusa Akeju
and Mallam Gani Owo from Ologbondoroko and Bofara’s compounds of Adeta Ilorin
in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State- have died after drinking a
locally-made concoction, simply known as ‘agbo’.
Our correspondent gathered on
Tuesday that the two relatives and Mallam Orire Saka had gone to the compound
of Mallam Orire Azeez but did not see Azeez. They were said to have demanded
from Azeez’s daughter, identified as Rashhedat, the drink which was prepared by
her father. The girl was said to have given the drink to the young men.
It was also gathered that after they
had taken the concoction, Akeju and Owo later started complaining of abdominal
pains.
Akeju, who was said to be a worker
of Lubcon Nigeria Limited, was said to have died at about 12midnight on Tuesday
while his colleague, who was a vulcanizer reportedly died later in
the day.
Saka was found on the floor having
breathing difficulties. He was afterwards rushed to the Ilorin General Hospital
for medical treatment.
Our correspondent gathered that he
was currently responding to treatment.
Members of the families of the
victims declined comments, saying they were grief stricken.
It was gathered that the deceased,
who left behind wives, children and aged parents, had been buried at the Muslim
cemetery in Ilorin on Tuesday according to Islamic rites.
