Prof Okunna , 100 Others Emerge Head Of Departments In Unizik For 2014/2015 Academic Year

     

Governor Peter Obi’s Chief of staff/Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget , Prof Chinyere Stella Okunna along side 100 others yesterday emerged Heads of Departments/ Acting Heads of Departments in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.  Out of the list 60 are on acting capacity while the rest are on substantive capacity.

Vice Chancellor of the Institution , Prof  Joseph Ahaneku who announced this today said the appointment is with immediate effect from 15^th September, 2014, charging the former HOD’s to conclude all handover formalities before the 1^st day of October, 2014.

Prof Ahaneku thanked former HOD’s and Acting heads for their contributions to the growth of the University in the 2013/2014 academic session even as he congratulated the newly appointed ones.

Prof Okunna returns as HOD of department of Mass Communication after a long absence to serve Anambra state as Commissioner in Obi’s government  while Dr Frank Collins Okafor is for Department of Political Science .

They are to hand over relevant data for the department , inventory of department , academic activities , staff development and landmark achievements.

The Unizik Vice Chancellor has also approved the election of Deans of various faculties and colleges including faculty of Social Sciences where Prof Okunna belongs to . He commiserated with Senator Fidelis Okoro, a member of the Governing Council whose son died  even as the university will hold a seminar on Ebola virus soonest.

Information sourced from Directorate of Information and Public Relations department says some staff of the University are heading to world class universities for further studies while others are studying in Nigeria.
