One Billion Dollar Station For Digitized Anambra Radio And Television

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on Monday signed a multimillion dollar  contract for the modernization and digitization of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS radio and television.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at Governor's Lodge, Amawbia,  Obiano said the contract signing ceremony was in fulfillment of his promise to Ndi Anambra to deliver a brand new broadcast organization with complete modern equipment.

"We are happy and excited to be signing this contract today. ABS is an important state institution, we have confidence that the contractor COMFAX having gone through a rigorous tendering process will deliver according to the terms".

 Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Tony Onyima said that the contract signing was the first phase in the transformation of ABS.

"The state government is also committed to building a brand new broadcast complex that will house the new equipments", Tony added.

Responding, Uche Nworah, Managing Director/CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Servicing said the management and staff of ABS are grateful to the Willie Obiano government for the various efforts aimed at repositioning the organization.

"These are happy and interesting times for all of us at ABS. Clearly, the state government has set us on the path of growth and Ndi Anambra will shortly experience world class broadcasting content", Mr Nworah said.

Nworah who had the singular opportunity to be answering CEO/MD was elated and lucky because all the former Managing Directors of the organization were not such lucky to have such opportunity or they had but was wasted by greedy politicians who never allowed them to have their way but take contracts they never deliver on the contract paid.

Will this contract be like the former contracts of transmitters and what have you duly paid for ABS but never saw the light of the day hence the station studio looks like 18^th century studio while former Governors paid for ultra modern digital studio. Is the contractor COMFAX going to do something different? The old ABS probably would be a museum for students to visit?
