The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister
of a Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and former Governor of Anambra state , Mr
Peter Obi are in the United States of America (USA) making case for Nigerian
President Goodluck Jonathan.
Iweala said that the
present Government in Nigeria, led by Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan was trying
everything possible to sustain the growth recorded by the Country.
She was speaking
during the presentation by McKinsey Global Institute, of the study about
Nigeria entitled: Nigeria's Renewal: Delivering Inclusive Growth in African's
Largest Economy at the New York Palace Hotel.
Reeling out measures under Jonathan's Transformation Agenda
to turn Nigeria around, Iweala called on investors to come to Nigeria for
the abundance of investment opportunities and favorable returns on investment.
Speaking at the event, the former Governor of a Anambra
State, Mr Peter Obi accompanied by his former Commissioner for Planning and
Budget/Chief of Staff, Prof. Chinyere Okunna, said that President Goodluck
Jonathan was on the right paths towards the growth of the Nigeria's economy.
He said that though most of the measures taken by Jonathan
had long gestation period, but that very soon Nigerians would start
seeing the impact of his many revolutionary polices such as the fruits of the
privatization of power distribution, support for Small and Medium Enterprises,
support for local manufacturers such as INNOSON Motor Manufacturing ltd, among
other measures.
Speaking further, Obi said that the new policy on
Agriculture was worthy of commendation as it has reduced the country's import
of agricultural produce. "The way we are moving on Agriculture, I have no
doubt that Nigeria had made a bold move towards food sufficiency", Obi
said.
