Obiano’s Wife And Empowerment In Aguata Local Government: An Interesting Outing

Wife of Anambra state Governor, Chief (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano has continued her thank you visit and empowerment to the 21 local government areas in the state with Aguata local government area taking its shot last Thursday 25^th September, 2014 reports odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com.

That visit was not only unique but memorable as the rural women got free hundreds of bags of enhanced treated seedlings of rice, beans and maize for planting as well as fertilizers to aid them in their farming.

There were also free health education and free drugs on  de-worming and malaria for children, as well as drugs on blood pressure for women and men sponsored by wife of Juhel Pharmacy , Mrs Amaka Okoye anchored by nurses from ministry of health led by Okwudinka Chika who represented the Commissioner for Health , Dr Joe Akabuike.

There were presentations of eggs , chickens, milk to mention but a few by spirited individuals including the donation of 500 school bags for Aguata pupils donated by the Managing Director, Ekwulobia Urban Mass Transit , Chief Obi Okoli.

While making the donation odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that, Chief Okoli who  is an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chieftain also made some  other presentations to the wife of the Governor before appealing to politicians in the state to stop over heating the polity with their unguided utterances and urged them to support the government of Governor Willie Obiano and wife Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) to take the state to its glorious position.

Chief Okoli assured the Governor’s wife of their total support in mobilizing for the party and solidarity in ensuring that APGA maintains the elad in 2015 general elections. He charged women to continue to mobilize for the party as their support will not be in vain even as he thanked them for their assistance to the party which enabled the party to win in the last elections 90 percent.

The APGA Chief and community leader cautioned journalists to be mindful of how they write about political issues to avoid creating panic, confusion and tension in the state. He thanked the Governor ‘s wife for her support and caring for the less privileged , orphans and vulnerable children as well as the indigents in the state.

Setting the tone of the visit, the Chairperson of Aguata council area , Mrs Chinyere Umeoji, said the visit was an empowerment visit of Aguata people by the Governor’s wife to demonstrate her love , concern and commitment for the upliftment of the living standard of the state.

Mrs Umeoji said ‘’, Osodieme, in this time of financial crisis and economic challenges, your visit to Aguata LGA is timely as well as intervening. This is because your laudable empowerment charity programme is for the less privileged of the society. These groups of people you have come to see and empower are usually forgotten in the society despite their being mostly affected by the adverse economy. ….’’

The Aguata Chairperson reminded that the visit will positively touch the lives of the widows , the orphans and the physically challenged in a number of ways and give them hope for a better tomorrow and assured her of their unalloyed support.

She appealed for establishment of a motherless babies and compassionate home for abandoned and neglected children in the zone and as well requested for a Micro Credit scheme for the rural women to aid them in their businesses for more productivity.

   Obiano’s wife odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com informed empowered in each community in Aguata council area 5 skilled disabled people, 3 unskilled people, 10 widows and 15 indigent people aside the treated seedlings distributed for planting for better harvest. She said she continued the good news started by former first lady Chief Mrs Margaret Peter Obi to ensure the rural women, children  and youths are carried along in governance.  

She thanked them for supporting her husband and APGA during the election that brought them in and solicited for their continued support and solidarity to enable them to strategize in wining more positions for APGA in the 2015 general elections since only APGA can liberate Ndigbo starting from Anambra.

She expressed gratitude on the massive support  for APGA especially by Aguata council women that led to APGA winning all positions I the House , callig for more support even as she promised that all the pledges or promises during their campaign would be fulfilled.

While encouraging the physically challenged people, Obiano’s wife said,’’ everybody has a cross to bear whether disabled or able but we must ensure our children go to school as the only means to liberate them from the shackles of poverty. …..Governor of New York is blind , so let our children go to school because Education is power.  We no longer want mentally challenged people in our streets and highway because some of them are just mentally depressed and not mad as many would want to believe. What they need is rehabilitation at our rehabilitation center and we have rehabilitated many  of them. We should care for them properly and give them sense of belonging .

Obiano’s wife encouraged skill acquisition adding that in America and some other developed countries , people with skill earn more and are the richest even as he warned against gender perspective in that regards. She sounded a warning that women should stop depending solely on men to avoid a cumulative pressure but to assist by investing with the little support from her CAFÉ initiative and better their lives.

‘’ Election is coming and I know God will help our party members contesting election I am sure God said APGA will not die and we would celebrate our victory is Supreme court . APGA is a rallying point for Ndigbo and not a political party ‘’ adding that Ndigbo would use the platform for negotiation of their rights from Abuja.

On unemployment, the Anambra first lady informed that her office through the office of the ministry of women Affairs and Social Development, Commissioner Dr Nkechi Chikwelu has been collating names of unemployed graduates with their disciplines for assistance and added that her office succeeded in assisting some Engineering students to gain employment in the Federal Ministry after training in Poland and Japan.

Member Representing Aguata Constituency 1 and 2 , Hon Ikem Uzoezie and Dr Ike Umenwa in their separate vote of thanks noted that their constituencies were exited by the Governor’s wife visit as that was the first time they were getting fertilizers and seedlings to assist rural farmers especially women adding hat Aguata council area is a home for APGA assuring landslide victory for APGA in the 2015 elections while the Environment commissioner , Chief Evarist Uba lauded the CAFÉ initiative of  the Governor’s wife.    

Chairman of Aguata local government area , Sir Chukwuma Umeoji ,Commissioner for Environment , Evarist Uba  and Provost Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Dr Cordelia Ego Uzoezie led the pack of political officer holders  and stakeholders to welcome the wife of the state Governor at the Ekwulobia Township stadium , venue of the thank you visit.

Others who attended the event included the APGA state Woman Leader Lady Chinyere Ibenta , Deputy state woman leader Hon Vero Okoye  and Lady Fidelia Ezeokoye JP Orumba North Woman Leader as well as traditional rulers including Igwe (Arch) Jonathan .O Okpalaezecha Nnam Oshimmili of  Akpo , Igwe of Ikenga Onwumere , Igwe of Ezinifite Bob Eze as well as numerous women groups including National Council for Women Society to mention but a few .

There was also another lecture series on the abuse of drugs by the NDLEA led by Chinwe Thompson even as she called on women to join forces in stopping drugs abuse by children and youths in the society as a measure to support the security efforts of the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

 Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Dr Nkechi Chikwelu lauded APGA government for all the empowerment it has rendered in  Anambra state since the Governor Peter Obi era through his wife Margaret Obi which the incumbent Ebelechukwu Obiano continued with through CAFÉ.
