Indigenes of Awka-north and South federal constituency in
Anambra state have unanimously come to the resolution that no other person
aspiring for the federal house of representatives in the aforementioned
constituency will replace the incumbent member representing the constituency at
the national assembly .
The constituents came to the resolution at a forum in Awka
over the week end .
Passing a vote of confidence on chief Emeka Nwogbo who
currently represents Awka-north and South federal constituency at the federal
house of representatives , they maintained that the national assembly is not a
place of jamboree and that someone who has been tested and entrusted with the
mandate of the people will continue to bring both local government areas to
limelight through quality representation .
Speaking to newsmen during the occasion some indigenes from
the constituency bared their minds about the impact of his representation on
the people of the area . Mrs.Joy Odum aged 63 said that the lawmaker has
touched the lives of his constituents through constituency projects
instituted in the area. According to her , the projects range from provision of
water borehole facility at Ezi-Obuora square Awka as well as some others still
on-going in the area.
For his part , Hon.Sunday Igwebuike who hails from Amikwo
village Awka posited that historical records has it that the lawmaker was the
best ever produced in Awka-north and South federal constituency . Hon.Igwebuike
stated that chief Nwogbo has entrenched infrastructural development in
the constituency stressing that those casting aspersions on the lawmaker
, were those who wanted him to tender constituency funds for squander-mania .
To further buttress the need for a second tenure in office ,
he stated that chief Nwogbo has executed some notable projects in Awka-north
and South namely construction of a new school building for Kenneth Dike
Memorial Grammar School Awka as well as renovation of the old building in the
aforesaid school , provision of employment opportunities for constituents ,
sponsorship of football enthusiasts over seas , to mention just a few .
Also Mr.Christopher Nwagba another constituents who lent his
voice said that the house of representatives member has done his people proud
at the national assembly and as such he rightly deserved another tenure to
complete his constituency works for his people . According to him the lawmaker
has provided portable drinking water , executed rural electrification projects
as well as provided rural road infrastructure .
Mr.Nwagba however declared that in the past Awka-North and
South constituents had no access to constituency funds but chief Nwogbo
according to him has liberated the people from the shackles of poor
representation at the national assembly .
He said that although the people have unanimously adopted
and endorsed him for 2015 but much was still expected from him especially in
the areas of provision of more electric transformers for Awka-north and South
in order to provide electricity to communities like Oba-Ofemili , Ugbenu
, Ugbene and other communities in Awka-north and South council
areas to save them from perpetual darkness .
However the incumbent member
representing Awka-north and South federal constituency in the federal house of
representatives chief Emeka Nwogbo when asked to comment on the allegation that
his constituency was poorly represented at the national assembly , he said ''
it is only a poorly developed mind that has no knowledge of what is happening
in Awka-North and South. It is either he is not resident in the polity or he is
too desperate and nothing else... ''
