Abuja – The Nigeria Football
Association (NFA) on Tuesday reiterated its resolve to hold an extraordinary
congress in Warri, Delta, on Sept. 20.
This is contained in a statement
issued by Ademola Olajire, the Assistant Director of Communications in Abuja.
The statement stated that Musa
Amadu, NFA Secretary-General, said the event would be the first of two such
congresses as advised by FIFA.
According to the statement, the two
congresses are expected to usher in a new NFA board.
“At the extraordinary congress, the
General Assembly will elect persons into a fresh NFA Electoral Committee and a
new NFA Electoral Appeals Committee.
“The General Assembly will also at
the same event decide on a date and venue for the elective congress which we
hope will take place before the end of the month,” the statement stated.
It stated that chairmen and
secretaries of the 36 States Football Associations and the FCT as well as
chairmen and secretaries of the various leagues are expected at the congress.
Coaches Association, Referees
Association and Players’ Union are also expected to be in attendance at the
event slated for Brownhills Events Centre, Warri.
Amadu also said that the grand
finale of the 2014 Men and Women Federation Cup competitions would hold only
after the elective congress of the NFA. (NAN)
