Federal Polytechnic, Oko French Club Inaugurates New Executive In Style , Crowns New Mr and Miss Paris. Abuchi Umeh Emerges President of the Club
Newly crowned Mr and Miss Paris
The seed sown in 1998 at Federal Polytechnic Oko today has grown to an Iroko tree. That is the French Club International, Federal Polytechnic, Oko chapter. At the weekend the newly elected executive members were inaugurated to steer
the affairs of the club for one year.
Odogwu Emeka Odogwu was a founding member, executive
and part of the seven musketeers or so that initiated the club in support of
Ogbuegebe and Joseph Ogai among others. They are all successful in their chosen
careers and were so happy to hear that French club is still waxing stronger.

The event which took place at the institution's
Convocation Arena attracted students from other departments and all the former
executive members of the club.
In his acceptance speech as President of the French Club International , Feeral polytechnic Oko Chapter, Monsieur Abuchi Umeh, thanked members of the association for voting him into power and for giving him opportunity to serve the club as he promised never to relent to his oars in rendering selfless services to the club.
He further thanked God for the honour bestowed on him and a successful event saying, "my joy knows no bound for this honour you all have bestowed on me today and in great humility and love I welcome each and every one of you to this event, I must say this task is not an easy one at all and it came at a time I consider myself not qualified to handle such a demanding office. He added that God will see them through as they would put all efforts needed to excel.
In his welcome address earlier, the outgoing President of the club, Monsieur Chukwudumeje Philip Ugochukwu welcomed all members of the association and thanked Almighty God for the successful completion of his task.
Hear him, "Leadership is not an easy task but thanks to God who made us succeed through all the thick and thin. Today, this induction is marking the 16th Anniversary of this noble association. It is one of the very difficult task to relinquish the powers you have to another but as God may have it, I don't have a second term ambition, so I must hand over to my successor. My prayer for him is for the Almighty God to guide them into surpassing where we reached and lead French club to a greater height".
"The French Club which is 16 years old today since it's establishment in this Polytechnic, has laboured so much in actualizing her goals, which is to educate its members on how to read, write and speak French very well especially now that the language has been constituted as second official language in the world".
Monsieur Chukwudumeje further recounted some of their challenges in making the aim of the club a reality saying that," Our French Club Lacks learning aid, such as books, DVD machine and television to enable students to speak French very well without phonological interference".
On his own part, Monsieur Onyeanuna Emmanuel from Alliance François in Enugu stated the need for the new leaders and members of the club to develop enduring spirit to enable them carry forward the course and urged all French Club members and well wishes of the association to give the new president and his team the needed support to lead the club forward.
Other highlights of the event were Presentation of certificates to the outgoing executives and newly inducted members, crowning of Mr and Miss Paris and launching of EIFFEL Tower.
