Confusion In APGA Over Re-Election Of President Jonathan In 2015 : Two APGA Camp Disagrees On Jonathan

Commissioner for Agriculture at the opening of the Coched Farm Project in Anaku, Ayamelum LGA

An All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) formed non-governmental organization (NGO), the Join Jonathan Journey (JJJ), has said only Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano, the All Progressives Grand alliance (APGA) National Chairman Victor Umeh and the group can deliver Anambra State to President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections.

This is against the stand of the Political Adviser to Anambra State Governor, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike, who   spoke in Awka, the Anambra State capital  during  a  personality programme in the State television, the Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS). He said All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s decision to back President Goodluck Jonathan  in his 2015 presidential bid is a  risky business which  will take its toll on the party.
Uzodike said some of its members may not be sophisticated enough  to vote for the President in the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and immediately switch over to APGA  the same day. He said further that APGA may lose some seats during the coming election because of this if it did not do its home work well.
Uzodike who was Governor Obainao’s director –general of  campaign organization during the governorship campaigns, said the situation is even made worse now that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is not producing dummy, which they would have used to put their members through.
For JJJ Group , it denied the rumour that former Governor Peter Obi had been appointed the President’s campaign coordinator for the Southeast.
The group’s Chairman Chief Ben Obi addressed reporters at the JJJ office in Amawbia.
He said that some people had been boasting that they would deliver for the President Jonathan in Anambra and other Southeast states.
But Obi said only Obiano had the capacity to ensure the President’s victory in the state.
He explained that altough the President inaugurated an evaluation and screening committee, Obi’s supposed appointment as the region’s campaign coordinator was unfounded.
Ben Obi said: “APGA is not just a political party but a movement in Anambra and indeed, Southeast. Soon, we are going to launch JJJ in Imo, Abia and other states in the zone.
“We have been getting calls from other parts of the country, such as Borno, Sokoto and Zamfara to launch the group, after its successful inauguration in Awka, the Anambra State capital, last Saturday.”
The group also said Jonathan had done well for Ndigbo, adding that he should be supported for another term.
It listed the major projects the President had given the Southeast as the Second Niger Bridge and Enugu International Airport, among others.
However, Uzodike recalled that it was the same support the party threw behind President Jonathan that cost them  many National Assembly seats and got only five House of Representatives members, who the party is losing about three of them to PDP and no single APGA Senator from the State .
Uzodike who restated APGA and Governor Willie Obiano’s commitment to back President Jonathan in spite  of its risk,  said  the party would introduce measures to educate its supporters so that they will master the voting pattern before the Presidential and National Assembly elections early next year.
He said that the good thing is that they would start early to educate    APGA members in the State on how to vote for President Jonathan in PDP and then APGA members contesting for the National Assembly seats, saying that the latest skirmishes in the party will help them  to create more awareness for their members during the election.
Stressing that the current seemingly face-off between the former Governor of the State, Mr. Peter Obi and the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, is just normal misunderstanding between brothers, which will soon fizzle out, Uzodike however, appealed to the duos to swallow their personal ego and think for the interest of the party and the people.
He denied the rumour making round  in the State that Governor Obiano and Obi are already having face-off due  because the  Governor has been working hard to undermine the  achievements and interest of Obi in his government.
