There is more
soaked tension Ekiti following the murder of the Chairman of Ekiti State Taxi Drivers
Association last night even as violence has erupted on the streets of Ekiti.
The chairman of
Ekiti State Taxi Drivers Association, Mr Komolafe Adeoye, was reportedly
murdered in his home yesterday night when some armed men came to his house and
shot him at close range.
According to
Elombah.com reporter in Ekiti, houses are being burnt, massive destruction of
properties both personal and government-owned are rampant, forcing
residents indoors.
There are reported
attacks on individuals and members of opposition to Ekiti State Taxi
Drivers Association resulting in collateral damages.
No official
statement has been issued by the police as the time of filing this report as to
the culprits of the murder.
Ekiti state has
been on the news lately following the attack by party followers of
Governor-Elect, Ayo Fayoshe, on an election tribunal judge, Justice John
Adeyeye, beating him up and ripping his clothes for being allegedly rude to Mr.
Fayose.
That development
forced the Chief judge of Ekiti State, A. Daramola, to order immediate
closure of all courts in the state until adequate security measures are in
place.
Speculation are
rife over the possible connection between the murder of Mr Komolafe Adeoye
and the violence at the High Court.
Meanwhile the
Chief Judge of Ekiti State on Thursday ordered the immediate closure of all
state courts there after political thugs backing the governor-elect, Ayodele
Fayose, descended on a court, attacking a judge and other staff.
In a statement signed by the Chief Registrar,
Obafemi Fasanmi, and made available to Elombah.com, [see below] the state Chief
Judge, A. Daramola, said all state courts are to remain closed until adequate
security measures are in place.

The pandemonium
that ensued scuttled the Ekiti State Governorship Election petition Tribunal
sitting billed for the day at the High court, Ado-Ekiti, as judicial workers
abandoned their duty post and ran for safety, witnesses and the state judiciary
authority said.
