

Former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state is
chairing the ongoing official launch of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed
Management Project( NEWMAP) at the Transcorps Hilton hotel ,Abuja.
The event is organized by the Ministry of
Environment in collaboration with the World Bank. They said they insisted Peter
Obi should chair the event because he was its architect when he was the
Chairman of the South-East Governors' Forum.
Other participants are: the Minister of Environment,
Mrs Laurentia Mallam and her predecessor, John Odey.
The World Bank Country Representatives, Marie
Francois Marie Nelly is there, she leads a powerful team from the Bank.
The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem
Okeke is representing Anambra State Governor.
All other Governors of the participating
States, Ebonyi, Cross Rivers, Imo, Enugu, Edo and Abia are represented. The
Chairman of the event is Mr. Peter Obi is speaking now on hazards erosion has
subjected millions of Nigerians…………
