Three women among internally displaced
persons (IDPs) who escaped to Maiduguri when Bama was attacked by the Boko
Haram insurgents delivered babies on the streets and are now begging for food
and other essentials with hundreds of others in Maiduguri.
A BBC Hausa report monitored in
Kaduna quoted a Maiduguri resident who craved for anonymity as saying that he
gave a woman from Bama N200 when she delivered her baby close to a Masjid.
He said the woman had informed them
that her husband had been missing since they left Bama.
The IDPs, according to the report,
were now wandering in the state capital begging for food and other essentials,
even as more people continue to escape from other troubled communities to
Maidugiuri.
The report said that due to a very
hot weather, some women died on their way from Bama to Maiduguri.
