Awka People Vow To Deal With Obiano’s Government Over Destruction Of Microfinance Bank , Slams N200m Suit On Govt For Destroying Microfinace Bank (MFB)

Unless something urgent is done , any developer who dares entering the demolished site of the Awka Microfinance Bank for erecting of a structure purported to be a shopping mall may have himself to blame as the people of Awka are livid over the destruction of their Micro finance by the Governor Willie Obiano’s government, reports odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com.

Not ready to talk and waste time the Directors of the Awka Micro Finance Bank, acting on behalf of the people of Awka, have dragged Anambra State government to court over the recent demolition of the bank and allocation of the land to a private developer to build shopping malls.

They are claiming N200 million damages from government.

The case is being handled on behalf of the bank by Chief O.B. Onyali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.

Following the demolition, there has been tension in the Anambar State capital as customers and shareholders of the bank said they had become apprehensive and wondering whether the demolition would affect their deposits and shares.

Two directors of the bank, Chief Dilim Okafor and Ozo James Eze, told reporters in Awka that they were heading to the court to challenge the government’s action because their people were accusing them of conniving with government to demolish the bank .

Essentially, they are asking for a perpetual injunction restraining the state government and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ifeatu Onejeme, from entering and building any structure on the said land which they leased at Eke Awka or letting or occupying the land.

The directors said the manner the demolition exercise was carried out and the hurried manner the construction of the shopping mall began was an indication that those behind it were out to undermine the people who owned the bank.

Indeed there is trouble brewing somewhere and needed the attention of Obiano to nip it in the bud.
