Anambra Communities Spoil For War Over Land

If nothing is done urgently the tension  mounting in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State between two of its towns, Eziora Ozubulu and Irefi Oraifite villages  spoiling for war over a piece of land at the boundary between them may escalate to loss of lives and colossal lost of property.

Odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that the peace-loving indigenes of the two communities are calling on Anambra State Government to take a step to avert bloodshed between the two communities now that the youths of the two communities were yet to get fully involved in the matter.
The land in contention is a piece of land natives of  Akwu Enugwu, Eziora Ozubulu, allegedly sold to an Otolo Nnewi indigene, Deacon Joseph Chukwuka, to build a secondary school, to which Irefi Oraifite villagers are laying claims.
According to chairman of Committee of Land Owners in Akwu Enugwu Industrial Layout, Eziora Ozubulu, Mr Ikechukwu Nwokolo, the action of Irefi youths led to invitation of the police.
But, the Nnewi Police Area Command promptly dispatched some policemen to the site since last weekend to maintain peace and order in the area in dispute and thereafter, mandated the claimants to produce within two weeks necessary evidence to their claims of ownership of the land.
Governor Willie Obiano has warned that each community should maintain the peace and ensure skirmishes are treated urgently to avoid escalating.
