The
Director-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr
Ade Abolurin, said that items seized from vandals by the organization would
soon be auctioned to the public, reports odogwuemekaodogwu.com.
Abolurin
made the disclosure after inspecting some items seized by the Anambra command
of the organization on Friday in Awka. The seized items included vehicles,
Tankers, drilling equipment , crude to mention but a few.
He
said the confiscated items including articulated vehicles conveying adulterated
petroleum products, cars, drums, pumping machines, among others would be sold
to the public through a judicial process.
Abolurin,
who led a Committee to assess the items, said that the exercise was in
continuation of Federal Government’s determination to discourage oil theft and
vandalism.
The
NSCDC boss assured that the organisation will keep up to its task of preventing
vandalism of the country’s oil and gas, telecommunications and other
critical infrastructures.
He
urged the officers to uphold the high level of discipline and work sincerely
without mortgaging their conscience.
In
a remark, the Director of Public Prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr
Akinlolu Akintewi, explained that the inspection was the first step in the
exercise of the committee’s mandate.
“The
next step will be the involvement of auctioneers,” he said.
