How Akili-Ogidi Community Lifts Anambra Speaker , Princess Nwaebili Football Tournament Trophy

Odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that Akili-Ogidi football team has emerged winner of the Unity cup football competition sponsored by the Speaker , Anambra State House of Assembly, Princess Chinwe Nwaebili for communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The competition, which is an annual affair, was aimed at scouting for talents who can represent the state and the country in sporting events.

The Grand Finale of the Unity Cup competition, which was played at saint Patrick’s Parish field, Odekpe, saw Akili-Ogidi defeat Ogbakuba by two goals to one.

All the communities that participated in the competition received lawn mower each from the speaker, which will be used for keeping the field where they do their training tidy.

In a remark, the sponsor of the football competition, Princess Nwaebili, explained that it was organized to encourage the youths to take interest in football which is a lucrative venture.
The speaker charged the youths to believe in themselves as there is no limit to what they can achieve with their talents.

On his part, the chairman, House committee on sports and member representing Anambra East Constituency, Mr Obinna Emenaka, commended the speaker for sponsoring the event, which, he said, has helped the youths to change their negative mind set.

Also speaking, the chairman House Committee on information and state Orientation, Mr Pauly Onyeka and the member representing Ogbaru-one Constituency Sir Benson Nwawulu, noted that the speaker had set the pace by encouraging the development of sports at the grass root which had helped to take the youths off the streets as well as developed their sporting talents.
