Governor Obiano Distributes 3,000 Computers To Anambra Private Schools , As Anambra Announced First In NECO May/June This Year

Governor Willie Obiano of  Anambra state government has distributed over 3,000 laptop computer sets to all the registered private schools in the State reports odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com.

Each of the school proprietors went back home with 15 laptop computers.

This is coming as some students including Lotanna Aghauno, Chima Joy and Israel Chidimma  during interarrction with Prof Kate Omenugha boldly urged government to close down any school caught in examination malpractices or performs below standard as, according to them, it jeopardizes the future of innocent children.

The State, last year, distributed laptop computer sets to all the public schools in the state including other education largess which aimed at making Anambra state the top 3 states in Nigeria with lowest illiteracy level.
While handing over the laptop sets to the proprietors of the school, the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano who was represented by the State Commissioner for education, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha noted that the State government wants Anambra State to be at the front burner in teaching and learning and to ensure that the private schools are carried along in this revolutionary process.
“We have given laptops to all public secondary schools and this time,we want to remember registered private secondary schools in the State. We enjoin you to make sure you use them judiciously in teaching the students and not as private properties. The idea is to make sure that all private schools queue in into all government policies in terms of enforcement.
“Henceforth,” she continued,” no private school will be allowed to register students in exam class, don’t employ quacks as teachers in your schools as that could endanger the future of the children, don’t  induce financially our supervisors during inspection and make sure that your school is registered with the government as we are poised to close down all the unregistered schools in the state.
“Most of you see school management as a business rather than as a social service but government will not hesitate to wield its sledge hammer on any private school that fails to abide by government policies” the commissioner threatened.
Prof Omenugha also announced that Anambra state once again, came  tops as the first position in the just concluded May/June National Examination Council  (NECO)Examination.
The Director of schools, Anambra state Ministry of  Education, Mr. Uwakwe Festus said the brain behind the meeting is to put education sector at the right track by bringing all the education stakeholders in the state together adding that Gov. Willie Obiano is keen in taking education in the State to the next level.
In appreciation, the State Chairman, National Association of  Proprietors of Private schools, Hon. Sonny Aniekwe thanked the State government for the gesture and promised on behalf of his colleagues that they will turn over a new leaf now that government has decided to bring them in decision making.
