Anambra Transition Church Service (16/06/14)
odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that with tension and apprehension surrounding the possible spread of the infectious Ebola virus,  the federal government has said the hospital at Nkwerre Ezunaka, Oyi local government area where the body of the Nigerian who died in Liberia was deposited will remain sealed  pending the result of the investigation to ascertain whether the man died from causes related to Ebola disease or not.

Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu announced this while saying that the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is on top of the situation to ensure that the virus does  not spread around the country.

Chukwu said that a  "team is presently in Anambra to dispose of the corpse in a safe manner according to WHO protocol. But before disposing of the corpse, tissue samples will be obtained for laboratory analysis. The Governor of Anambra State is to be commended for reporting the matter to the Federal Ministry of Health" officials.
Meanwhile odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com informs that the Anambra State government has placed a ban on corpses being taken into the state from outside the state till further notice.
This order is not unconnected with the outbreak of Ebola disease in some parts of Africa.
Govenor Willie Obiano made this disclosure after the corpse of a native of the state was deposited at the morgue of a private hospital at Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the state.
The man died in Liberia, which, along with Guinea and Sierra Leone is currently battling the dreaded Ebola disease. The cause of the man’s death is yet unknown.
It was gathered that six patients who were on admission in the Nkwelle Ezunaka hospital have been relocated to the Umueri General Hospital in Anambra East Council Area.
A medical team from the Federal Ministry of Health was being expected in the state yesterday to investigate the cause of the man’s death.
Obiano ordered security agencies in the state not to allow any corpse to be brought into the state from outside.
He however said there was no confirmation yet that the man died of Ebola.
The governor who addressed some women at the Women Development Centre, Awka said only an investigation by experts could confirm the cause of the man’s death.
