Ebola Outbreak: Anambra State Red Cross Intensifies Alert And Call For Isolation Camps For South-East With Demonstrative Pictures
odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that the Anambra state chapter of the Nigerian Red
Cross Society is prepared to respond to any eventuality of the outbreak of
Ebola virus in the state with its elaborate programmes.
State Vice Chairman of Red Cross in the State,
Prof Peter Emeka Katchy who announced this during a one day capacity building
workshop held at its State Headquarters, Awka, Anambra State beckoned on the
South East Governors to set up an isolation camps in their various states.
Prof Katchy said the essence of the workshop is to strategize on how to respond to emergencies of Ebola virus should it caught up with the state unawares and to create awareness on the Ebola disease.

have started to create the awareness and planning on how to respond rapidly in
case such emergency is needed. I also want to state categorically clear that
there is no Ebola in Anambra state for now.
“There was scare and anxiety over ebola virus in Anambra state sequel to the corpse of an accident victim, a native of Nando in Anambran east LGA who died in Liberia and was brought back and deposited at a mortuary in Nkwelle Ezunanka. The Governor ordered for sealing up of the health facility; quarantine the workers who passed through ebola virus investigation which appeared negative”

Prof Katchy advised the people to be conscious of whatever they do this time and ensure that they wash their hands regularly, keep a healthy environment and stop inter state and inter country transportation of corpses and adhere to the ban on such corpses transportation by the federal Government.
In his speech, the state Chairman of Red Cross Society and the Former Chief Judge of Anambra state, Jusice Paul Obidigwe said his chapter has procured a lot of preventive materials such as: hand gloves, helmets, eye glasses, rain booth, permeable and oxygenated mask as a sign of its readiness to respond to emergencies.
Highpoint of the workshop include stimulation exercise by the members of the Nigerian Red Cross society, Anambra state Chapter.
