reports that for failing to empower his kinsmen of Udi Town and Umuneke Clan in
Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, the indigenes of Udi Town and Umuneke
Clan comprising eight communities of Udi, Abia, Amokwe, Agbudu, Obinagu, Nachi,
Umuaga and Umuabi communities have vowed to stop Gov. Sullivan Chime’s
Senatorial ambition to replace the incumbent senator, Ike Ekweremmadu for
Enugu-West Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly.
Rising from a meeting in an
undisclosed location for fear of being haunted by the governor, indigenes of
Udi town, Chief Magnus Eneh and Dr. Philip Owoh under an association,”Umuneke
Political Forum” said that since the inception of Gov. Sullivan Chime’s
administration as Governor of Enugu State that the people of the area have not
benefitted from the government of the day much more attracting development to
the area.
The duo who are President and
Secretary-General of the association respectively, however, urged Gov. Chime to
rather support another candidate for Enugu west senatorial contest, adding that
if Chime insists on presenting himself as a candidate for the senate in 2015
National Assembly election that it would mark the beginning of his colossal
loss in politics.
The group who frowned at the high
rate of unemployment among graduates and school leavers from the area
criticized the governor for not absorbing indigenes in the Enugu State civil
service.
They urged the state governor, Mr.
Sullivan Chime to borrow a leaf from his predecessor, Chimaroke Nnamani who is
still popular in Nkanu land for empowering his people and attracting
development to various communities in Nkanu clan when he held sway as the
governor of Enugu state.
Th group, however, challenged Gov.
Chime to point at any single project he has been able to attract to his
community, Udi town, much more Umuneke clan.
It argued that, rather, the governor
was only interested in using the state funds to attract the sympathy of women
for his own pleasure instead of using it to empower his people economically and
attract infrastructure to Udi land.
It, however, condemned Gov. Chime’s
senatorial ambition in 2015, stressing that he lacks the support of the people
of Udi town and Umuneke clan as charity begins at home. The duo further stated
that it was unjust for the governor to present his younger brother, Jideofor
Chime as a candidate for udi/Ezeagu constituency in the House of
Representatives while there are other qualified people from the zone that can
represent the area.
It, however, urged Gov. Chime to
think back home and remember his people that have for years been languishing in
poverty, unemployment and lack of development.
