Oraegbunem has dragged the national leadership of the party and the
Independent National Electoral commission to a federal high court in
Awka challenging his alleged suspension last month by the state
working committee.

Speaking with reporters today in Awka, Oraegbunem said the constitution of
the party clearly stated the due process of how an officer of the
party whether substantive or on acting capacity, saying that his
alleged removal from office did not follow due process.

" I have gone to court to challenge my so called suspension and I hope
that they(national leadership) suspend their investigation pending the
determination of my suit. The suit was filed on July 8 and the first
hearing would be in September this year. they have been duly served as
well as INEC.

Oraegbunem who was reacting to a letter from the national secretariat
of the party signed by the national secretary,Alhaji A.A Salam said he
had expected that the issue of vote of no confidence should have been
raised by the party in the state rather than issue of allegations.

The national secretary in his letter to Oraegbunem over the crisis the
party dated July 8, 2014 indicted him for locking up the party office
for weeks thereby paralyzing activities in the party.

" On your request for us to refer your executives to the party
constitution on means of removal of an officer from his position, you
are reminded that you are only acting on that seat of the state
chairman of the party. Any of the deputy chairmen elected in the last
congress of the party can equally act as chairman until a new congress

The secretary in the letter advised him to embrace peace and desist
from harassment and molestation of members with the police while
investigation was being carried out by the a committee of the party.

" It is not in the best interest of the party that activities came to
a halt in the party since the last governorship election in October
last year instead of building on the successes of the mobilization
made in the party towards that election".
