Breaking News: Anambra Closes Hospital In Oyi Council Area Over Ebola Virus Out Break As Corpse Of Ebola Victim Flown From Liberia Deposited In Anambra

                               

odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that there is tension and apprehension in Anambra state today as there was a palpable tension in Anambra state as the State Government raises alarm over suspected Ebola laden corpse that was flown from Liberia to Anambra state through Lagos.

odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that the corpse was deposited at one of the morgues in Oyi Local Government Area of the State, and already over 50 persons In contact with the corpse have been quarantined until epidemiologists from Federal Ministry of Health certifies them free.

The State Government, however through the State Ministry of health, immediately ordered for temporal closure of the hospital until the staff and patients including the deceased family members are screened by the epidemiology unit of the Federal Ministry of Health.

Briefing newsmen in his office, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Josephat Akabuike disclosed that the corpse was flown into the state by weekend, adding that the State has collected all the necessary preventive garments to protect the virus from spreading.

“We had a report that a corpse was brought into the state through Lagos and the deceased was said to be taken from Liberia where there is a several reported cases of ebola virus disease and that is why we are very serious in trying to make sure that the victim wasn’t killed of the virus.

“The corpse was deposited in one of the mortuaries in Oyi Local government Area and our ministry was alerted. We have identified the hospital and have also alerted the epideology unit of the Federal Ministry of health that are now on their way to Anambra State to screen the deceased and if confirmed, necessary measures will be taken to prevent it from spreading” he said.

The health Commissioner identified ebola virus symptoms to include: malaria, persistent diarrheal (gastroenteritis) and fever, weakness, waist pain and bleeding diastases, stressing that the virus could also be contacted through sexual intercourse.

He also informed that the state government has instituted a rapid responds team, saddled with the responsibility of responding to emergencies, revealing that the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has ordered for the acquisition of 400 personal protective equipment to protect the health workers in the state and urged all Anambrarians to call the following emergency numbers, 08030890440 or 08030864502 anytime there is a suspected case of ebola disease in their area.
