Odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that a
Pentecostal cleric, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa has said that President Gooodluck
Ebele Jonathan may not make it in 2015 following the state of the
Nigerian nation, especially on insecurity and charged Nigerians irrespective of
tribe and religion to pray for the president to apply God’s wisdom in the
leadership of the nation.
Bishop Nwankpa gave the advice yesterday while fielding questions from journalists in Onitsha.
According to the fiery preacher, “what we are
experiencing in Nigeria is not God’s wish for the people. A lot of bad and
selfish advisers have infiltrated Jonathan’s government just to fill their
pockets and live in opulence while majority of Nigerians are wallowing in
hunger and poverty”.
He regretted that since privatization took place in the power sector, no significant improvement has been witnessed and wondered why the country was still experiencing shortage of power.
The cleric, however, failed to exonerate the political leaders from blame, stressing that most of the public companies sold out by government were done under questionable circumstances. Even as he accused the government of selling public property using frontiers
“Who owns Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), who owns OANDO, ECOBank, Bell University and so on. Now they are planning to sell NNPC to themselves so that they will continue to rip-off Nigeria economically. I heard that one of the political leaders in the present government owns a refinery in Italy. That is why they don’t want to build new ones so that they would continue in the corruption –infested oil importation into the country.”
“Why not build new refineries and stop the craze in importing refined petroleum products. This is corruption at the highest level.”
“The present government is seeking $1 billion dollars to import military equipment to fight insurgency in the county. Why not seek the money to equip our hospitals, schools, power so that the citizens can benefit from their county. If eventually approved, the money will end up in private pockets” he said.
Bishop Nwankpa, however, described President Jonathan as a good man with bad and selfish advisers who do not have genuine ideas surrounding him and called for fervent prayers to expose all those who do not wish the county well through their ill-conceived advice to the president.
