The Numerous Sins Of Former Governor Peter Obi That Brought About The Protest Over His Appointment As Minister By President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan wanted to give Former Governor Peter Obi , Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) even when he did not request for it but so many people fought against it.
Again , Jonathan sought the understanding of his party men in PDP to give Obi another position , they fought it again with over 200 petitions but Obi never said a word. Who knows what he has in mind?
Now , many are calling on Jonathan to appoint him a sitting Minister not minding that he is a member of his tactical committee and an Honourary Adviser to the President.
That move is equally breeding contempt but odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that President Jonathan is not looking back from his desire to appoint Obi into his fold especially with all the awards coming to him now he finished strong in Anambra. But read what this PDP man and former House of Assembly Member Mbazulike Amaechi Jnr said about Obi and PDP.

What is all the fuss about Peter Obi filling the ministerial slot for Anambra State?
1. Peter from his track record is super qualified to be made a Minister of the Federal Republic
2. Those that keep griping about finding someone from PDP forget that Ministerial appointments are the prerogative of a sitting President and that party input is a courtesy extended the political party by the President.
3. Presidents have been known to appoint capable hands from opposing political parties to get the job done. The Present Defense Secretary in the US is a Republican, so was William Cohen under Clinton.
4. The PDP Anambra does not have a particularly good track record of nominating the best hands to fill positions allotted to them, the nominees are more often than not minions put forward by whatever "gladiator" family that held sway at the time and is based on primitive loyalty rather than competence, the good ones have been ones selected without recourse to the party in the state.
5. The Constitution of Nigeria allows for a Minister from a state and does not mandate that it has to be from the ruling party
6. Based on support for the President I can safely say that Peter Obi has more genuine support for the President than a lot of merchants in the PDP parading all manners of Ministerial prospects
7. Peter Obi apart from being competent is also a political advantage to the President, he will better mobilize political support for the President in Anambra should GEJ decide to run.
8. Like Peter Obi or hate him it is not in doubt that he does a good job of whatever he takes on, you may not like his modus but he does get results.
9. People like Peter Obi ought to be actively head hunted to bring in capable hands to the GEJ Administration, the PDP should be more concerned with applauding a good choice of Minister from the state than the party affiliation of the candidate.
10. PDP alone did not account for the massive electoral victory of the President in 2011, APGA under the leadership of Peter Obi as Governor played a vital role, so even if it is a compensation it is not out of place. With the tattered shape of PDP in Anambra today is it tactical to leave the President's campaign in the hands of such a fractured party.
11. The endorsement of Peter Obi by the Anambra State Working Committee under Ken Emeakayi is commendable and based on common sense and a sound political thinking and calculation.
In conclusion there are several people that are qualified for the job in Anambra in all the parties but the choice of Peter Obi now is the most Politically correct. Ikenna Amechi.

The Story : Nomination Of Peter Obi OBI Minister Tears Anambra PDP Apart

Crisis is currently brewing in the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the decision by the party to nominate the former Governor of the state, Peter Obi, for a ministerial position to represent the state in the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Ms. Stella Oduah, who represented the state in the council, was dropped recently.
Since then, nobody has been nominated to fill the vacancy.
It was gathered by THISDAY that members of the party in the state are divided over the choice of Oduah’s replacement.
Report gathered that the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party, after its 98th meeting, recommended Obi as a possible ministerial nominee who would represent the state in the federal cabinet.
The argument proffered by the SWC in a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan was that the choice of Obi was because of his “popularity and acceptability.”
The letter signed by the state chairman of the party, Ken Emeakayi and secretary, Mike Akubude, expressed the hope that even though Obi is the member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), “the former governor who will automatically become a member of PDP if and when appointed, is best positioned to galvanise all the interest groups, the people of the state and the South-east zone towards the forthcoming presidential election.”
The recommendation is creating bad blood in the state as some party members considered it strange that the leadership of the party in the state could not find any member of PDP qualified and capable to fill the slot.
In a petition to the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) by a Concerned PDP Faithful in the state, the group accused Emeakayi of anti-party activities for “his unilateral nomination of a non-party member.”
The petition signed by Chief Mike Okeke further argued that it is “more reprehensible when reasoned against the backdrop that there are very highly qualified and loyal PDP members in the state who can fit into the position of a minister...”
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, who is also leader of PDP in Anambra State, was not available for comment as he was said to be out of the country.
The state chairman of the PDP in Anambra State confirmed to THISDAY that, the party’s recommendation, stating that those protesting the nomination of Obi were not members of the PDP.
