Tension At Federal Polytchnic ,Oko Over Prof Onu' Fate As Rector Of The Polytechnic , Swap Or Sack- Community Demands

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that barely 24 hours after inaugurating the N250 Million school of Aeronautic and Air Craft maintenance Engineering attracted by Princess Stella Oduah, former Aviation Minister at Akili-Ozuzo of the Atani campus of the Federal Polytechnic Oko witnessed by Prof Godwin Onu , host community of the main campus of the Polytechnic Oko in Orumba North local government area of Anambra state yesterday continued its call for the removal of the Rector of the Polytechnic , Prof Godwin Onu from the Polytechnic.  

                      

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com surprisingly informs that when contacted the Polytechnic management has dropped its combat ready ways of responding to seeking for peace and peaceful resolution of the perceived crisis in the Polytechnic. 

 Prof Godwin Onu , the Polyphonic Rector is disposed for peace and he said he has nothing against Oko People adding that he and the polytechnic is disposed to give peace a chance to move the Polytechnic to the next level. 

And the Polytechnic spokesperson Obini Onuchukwu himself the real Army General who odogwuemekaodogwu.com can confirm did not help matters when the crisis started was as cool as never in responding to the esquires of odogwuemekaodogwu.com. 

Obini admitted that the Old Aguata Union, Lagos Branch summoned the Rector, Prof Godwin Onu and the Igwe Oko, Prof Laz Ekwueme to resolve the issues creating tension and peacefully resolved it with Prof Onu and Prof Ekwueme embracing each other agreeing to peace only for Prof Ekwueme to summon his people this morning for a counter action.

But the Community men and women numbering over 1, 000 led by Prof Laz Ekwueme, the traditional ruler, Chief Cyprian Nwanmuo , the President General , National Woman Leader  Lady Carol  and President of Umuada Oko, Lady Maureen Izuegbu and representatives of all villages and branches met this morning and again rejected the continued stay of Prof Godwin Onu in the Polytechnic. 

The community rejected the purported announcement and publication of the resolution of Orumba Forum  comprising of three local government areas led by Chief Raymod Obieri and Prof  Osisioma claiming to have resolved the crisis between the community and the Polytechnic reiterating that the only solution to the crisis is immediate swap of the Rector with another polytechnic Rector from anywhere in the Federation if he must be a Rector or reverse his ‘illegal’ renewal of appointment for the next four years.

Sensing danger of another imminent protest the Polytechnic management flooded the Polytechnic environment with trucks of policemen from Oko and Ajalli to repel the protesters but the gathering was for a meeting to resolve on the stand of the community following external interventions to resolve the crisis. 

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com recalled that the that Orumba Forum met at Lagos to resolve the lingering confidence crisis rocking the Polytechnic Rector , Prof Onu Godwin and the Community Monarch Igwe Laz Ekwueme also a Professor , purportedly urging the Monarch to come up with the inventory of property damaged in his palace and the hotel of a Polytechnic staff burnt for the Polytechnic rector to pay compensation as a final resolution to the crises. 

Although Igwe Ekwueme attended the meeting as Vice Chairman of the Forum, he rejected the decision as he insisted Prof Onu must leave to another Polytechnic if he must be Rector and another Rector from any part of the country’s polytechnic be sent to Oko as the school have existed for several years without such high handedness and partiality exhibited by Prof Onu. 

The community this morning resolved not to have anything to do with Prof Godwin Onu  but not as an effrontery or flexing of muscle with the Federal Government but as the only peace option to restore normalcy in the Polytechnic  adding that the body language of the Rector is not that of a person that is looking for peace. 

They resolved odogwuemekaodogwu.com gathered in a voice vote that they cared less if an Hausa man or Yoruba man should be made a Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko as a federal institution but not Prof Godwin Onu , having drawn battle line with the community. They insisted that the case cannot be settled without Prof Godwin Onu bowing out of the Institution for good as he has brought low the glory of the Polytechnic by his actions and inactions. 

But Prof Godwin Onu reacting said he has nothing against Oko People and that he and the polytechnic is disposed to give peace a chance to move the Polytechnic to the next level. He however directed this reporter to his public Relations officer , Obini Onuchukwu to speak on the issue since he is not used to speaking on the issues before now.

Onuchukwu while reacting further admitted that the Old Aguata Union, Lagos Branch summoned the Rector, Prof Godwin Onu and the Igwe Oko, Prof Laz Ekwueme to resolve the issues creating tension and peacefully resolved it with Prof Onu and Prof Ekwueme embracing each other agreeing to peace only for Prof Ekwueme to summon his people this morning to change a decision already reached. 

Obini however denied that the Rector promised to take inventory of damaged vehicles of Igwe Ekwueme and his house as well as the Motel of Meta Meta burnt down at Amaokpala questioning why the rector should do that. He said doing that portrays that he had a hand in the destruction and therefore was never part of the bargain. 

He wanted why would the Polytechnic would call for a swap of Prof Onu and demanded to know where it has been done before in the country and appealed for peace  and calm as they have given everybody his or her honour and would continue to do so .

He said the call for swap or outright sack was from none lovers of performance as Prof Onu has performed extraordinarily in the last four years. He said the police men at the Polytechnic were the normal police and security men on every conventional working day for the Polytechnic and nothing like a siege.

‘’The call for sack or swap of the Rector is uncalled for  and the call is beyond the interest of Education , interest of Nigeria ‘’, wondering if they transfer the Rector , have those calling for the swap transferred the mystery surrounding victim of masquerade festival crisis and the cases instituted in court against the Igwe by his people and the umbrage against the Igwe by his people.

He maintained that the majority of the people in Oko community appreciates the rector and his efforts in the last four years and would not want merit to be sacrificed, odogwuemekaodogwu.com concludes.
