Rural Roads In Ihiala Takes Priority As Council Boss Chigozie Barth Awugosi Compiles Lists

            

Ihiala local government area of Anambra state has placed priority attention on infrastructural development as the council authority is set to embark on massive cum aggressive road rehabilitation and re-construction  to further develop the grass roots which is in tandem with Governor Willie Obiano's drive in the provision of road infrastructure in the rural areas .

Speaking to odogwuemekaodogwu.com  in his office at the council head-quarters Ihiala , the executive chairman of the council Hon.Chigozie Barth Awugosi stated that his administration has instructed all the councilors in the 20 wards of the council area to compile list of roads in their respective constituencies and submit to the local government to enable the council authority assist  communities in developing roads within their domain .

Hon. Awugosi said that the money for the road projects  have  already been made available but the council was waiting for the representatives of the wards to submit the list of their priority roads for onward attention .

The council boss who revealed that his administration has transformed Ihiala local government area in line with Governor Willie Obiano's policy on clean and healthy environment , maintained that the local government authority has embarked on palliative works on Orlu Road, between Total Fuel Station and Timber Shade in Ihiala local government area even though it is a federal road.

 According to him , '' it is a federal road but i can't watch my people falling into water in an attempt to come to Ihiala...'' adding that they have approached all the relevant agencies including the Federal Road Maintenance Agency ( FERMA ) and that they are aware that they are carrying out palliative works on the aforementioned road .

Apart from road rehabilitation , the local government chairman also disclosed that the state governor would soon commission a number of MDGs projects sited in all the 10 communities comprising Ihiala council area stressing that his administration was poised to add value to the lives of the people of Ihiala local government area. He said the MDGs projects include water projects, provision of health-care facilities , renovation of some primary schools to mention just a few .

Hon.Awugosi further disclosed that his administration has equally decentralized revenue collection as he intends to construct revenue offices around the council area in order to bring development closer to the grass roots and equally enable people to pay taxes and other monies due to government at the nearest revenue office within their localities rather than coming to the central tax office at the council head quarters . He said that they currently have many cases in court dealing with the flagrant refusal of people to pay taxes and that some private persons have continued to sit on government's revenue windows as some of the court cases have lingered for too long a time precisely between 1999 and 2003.
