New Priests In Anglican Communion Awka Diocese , Said They Are Not After Money And Goodies In Church
Pictures Exclusive to odogwuemekaodogwu.com on how Bishop Ibezim ordained 12 Priests
odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that like the biblical twelve apostles of Jesus Christ who received the gift of the Holy Spirit on the Pentecost day, glowing tongues of fire literally perched on the heads of twelve deacons who were inducted
into the priesthood of the Anglican Communion at St. Stephen’s Church
Agulu, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The new priests were even not interested in money
and goodies in the Church but in evangelizing and spreading the word of God in
all nooks and crannies of the world especially Anambra state.
And the ordination
was on the day men forsook their earthly possessions, and the luxurious things
of the earth to enlist in the Lord’s fishers’ of men. The event which had a
legion of Anglican faithful in the diocese and beyond, and eminent
people from all works of life in attendance had the celestial doors
thrown open for divine anointing and power.

odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that among the new deacons are Ibezim Cyril Chukwuemeka, Ifeona Paul
Chukwuka Amos, Arthur Chukwuka Chukwuedozie Okonkwo, Ifeanyi Joel
Ilouno, Okeke Silas Okechukwu, and Daniel Chiagozie Echendu.
Others are Azubuike Nnaemeka Moses, Anunobi Godson Ifeanyichukwu,
Chikelue Ikechukwu Donatus, Nwokocha Benjamin Chukwunonso, Ufoaroh
Chidi Joshua, and Nwuba Emmanuel Ikwunne.
Delivering his sermon, the vicar, Holy Trinity Parish, Nibo in Awka
South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ven. Jonah Eziorachukwu
Ajakor charged the deacons to uphold the good teachings our Lord Jesus
Christ at all times, and spread the good news of the salvation of
mankind which God has made possible through His son Jesus Christ who
died on the cross for the sins of the world. He told the new priests
to always stand for the truth, and always make themselves available
for God’s work, noting that “the true meaning of ordination was one
surrendering himself to the Lord to carryout divine assignments for
God”, adding that “God has supplied Christians power for that purpose
through baptism.”
Ajakor revealed that “we have a-never-closed gate of prayer to have
appointment with the Lord” insisting that “as we pray for our dear
nation, the joy of Pentecost will solve most of our national
problems.”
odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that in his speech, the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt. Revd. Alex Ibezim
stressed the need for Christians to be vigilante at all times, and
work according to the dictates of the Holy Scriptures. He noted that
it is the duty of Christians to ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ
is spread to all the nooks and crannies of the earth, charging the
believers in Jesus to “carry on the light of God and follow the
footprints of Christ.”
Ibezim decried the growing level of insecurity in the country,
regretting that Christians are being killed at will in the northern
part of Nigeria, even as he called on all hands to be on deck to curb
the growing abnormally. He said that the task of spreading the gospel
of Jesus Christ is not the exclusive reserve of priests but all
Christians.
His words: “Recently one of the Bishops in the North called me and
said nineteen of his parishioners were slaughtered. It is very painful
to us. So when we are talking about the security of lives and
property, you should know it is everybody’s business. All hands must
be on deck to secure lives, and property, and you must at all times
report suspicious movements to the security operatives for their
required responce.”
Some of the deacons who spoke on the occasion were full of praises to
God for “a dream come through” declaring that they would continue to
show the light of Christ in all things. They denied that they were
attracted to the church because of the mouth-watering benefits in the
temple.
One of the newly ordained deacons, Rev. Nnaemeka Azubuike said: “It’s
not everywhere; and it’s not all the priests. If you are convinced
that you’ve been called by God you’ll overlook the riches of this
world and focus on spiritual things; then those earthly riches will be
added unto the person. My interest is to win souls for Christ and make
heaven at last. I’m 100 per cent convinced that all of us were called
by God.”
But for Rev. Ifeanyi Anunobi, more servants of God are still needed in
the Church of Christ.
Hear him: “It’s a thing of joy that I’m made a deacon today; the first
in the order of the Church. And I pray God to bring more people to
join in the dissemination of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. This
is because the harvest is plenty but the workers are really few. Even
though they may be many in numbers, but the real workers are wanted.”
The highlight of the occasion was the display of the colour party by
the priests and their wives led by Rev. Oluchukwu Okonkwo of the Holy
Trinity Church, Amanuke.
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme and his wife; Deputy
Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke and his wife; Hon. Ebele
Ejiofor, and Hon. Val Ayika of the Anambra State House of Assembly
were among the prominent dignitaries that graced the occasion, odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports further.
