How Obiano’s Dragnet Caught Fleeing 13 Robbers, Kidnapers In Lagos, Enugu And Rapist Of Pregnant Women
odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that the dragnet spread by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano to fight crime, chase armed robbers and kidnappers out of the state and storm their hideouts, command and control bases and stopping their sources of arms supplies have started to yield results as the state Police command today in Awkuzu paraded 16 armed robbery and kidnap suspects traced to Lagos and Enugu states respectively and arrested them.
odogwuemekaodogwu.com informs that amongst the sixteen suspects are those who refused to hid the note of warning sounded by the State government and the various security agencies for them to leave the state, including one Chinedu Chukwudi from Okija and members of his gang who were arrested robbing a victim of N66, 000 and raping his wife who was 9 months pregnant at Okija, Ihiala local government area of one the state.
Parading the suspects at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Headquarters, Awkuzu, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka said the collaboration between the police and state government was yielding the desired result.
The PPRO confirmed the recovery of 2 rifles, 6 pump action guns, 2 locally-made pistols, gun accessories, six magazines and some quantities of cartridges from the suspects.
According to the PPRO
“the break-through the security agencies are having in the crime prevention and
arrest of criminals across the state is a clear indication that the support of
the Governor of Anambra State and the people is working and should be
encouraged so as to ensure the safety of lives and property of the citizens.”
Mr Chukwuemeka, explained that one Christian Uba
who obtained a Diploma Certificate from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka was
arrested in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State for kidnapping and
detaining a female students of the same University who is said to be his third
victim; while Augustine Nwafor from Ifite Awka and Ndubuisi Agbom from Ezza,
Ebonyi who specialized in robbing commuters through the one-chance technique
were also nabbed by the police.

Cosmas Achum, a member of the notorious Onye-Uke Gang that allegedly kidnapped
many people and carried out heinous crimes across the state was also arrested,
while Chukwubuike Anyamele and Chukwuemeka Nmaduabuchi whom he said had been in
police wanted list for alleged kidnapping was also caught as well as one
Chiagolum Ihejiagwa whom he described as a major receiver of stolen goods,
especially vehicles.
odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that in addition, the PPRO of the state police command paraded the kidnap suspect Okechukwu Nnegbo from Agu-ukwu-Nri who was arrested onboard a South-Afrca bound aircraft at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The king-pin the PPRO said is already helping the police in their investigations. Also in SARS net are Chibuzo Ugwummadu and Ifeanyi Eneke from Oba who were arrested for kidnapping a transporter popularly known as 2nd Tarzan from the same community. Mr Chukwuemeka explained that the duo demanded and obtained N5 million ransom from the wife of the victim through one Nzube, an informant and cousin of the victim who aided the Kidnappers in their operation but turned round to defraud them of the money but luck deserted him when they caught and killed him and threw him inside the river. The ransom was subsequently recovered where it was hidden in the forest. The PPRO urged the people of the State to continue to assist the police with useful information to rid the State of all forms of crime.
Speaking to newsmen, one of the suspects,
Christian Uba admitted that he had kidnapped three students from the UNIZIK and
was arrested after kidnapping his girl friend, one Lilian in October last year.
In his own reaction, the armed robbery and rape suspect, Chinedu Chukwudi said
he was arrested after robbing the victim and raping his pregnant wife.
Also speaking, the kidnap suspect arrested in a South Africa-bound flight, Okechukwu Nnegbo confirmed that he had been involved in three kidnap operations with another suspect (name withheld) still on the run.

A suspected kidnapper, Mr. Okwuchukwu Nnagbo, who
was arrested while he was already boarded to South Africa at the Murtala
Muhammed Airport, Ikeja,last month was yesterday paraded at the headquarters of
the State
Anti- robbery
Squad, Awkuzu, Anambra State, along with 13 other suspects involved in
various offenses.
Nnagbo, a native of Nri in Anaocha local government area of the state, said he had been in the business of kidnapping for many years, adding that he had lost count of the number of persons he had kidnapped in the past.
He said that he decided to quit kidnapping when his relation residing in South Africa invited him to come over, noting that he thought he had covered his track, only to be arrested at the point of flying out of the country.
Also paraded were Chukwudi Chinedu from Okija, and Kevin Obi from Umuzu who raped the pregnant wife of a man they robbed of N66,000 and Uba Christian Chukwuemeka from Oji River in Enugu State who had been involved in the kidnapping of female students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where he did a diploma programme few years ago.
Chinedu said he was living in Lagos and only looking for money to transport himself back to Lagos and blamed the devil for his action.
Another gang that includes Onyeka Ozoigbo, a vulcanizer, and Harrison Amaukwu, both from Uli in Ihiala local government area were caught with 85 telephone handsets stolen from various people.
However, they were so unlucky when one of the people they approached to buy one of the phones at N1700 alerted the police and they were apprehended, while one member of the gang, who jumped over the wall on sighting the police, is still at large.
Another suspect, Mr. Chiagorom Ihejiagwa from Akokwa in Imo State admitted that though he has a shop in Asaba, he was involved in buying stolen cars.
The one that landed him into trouble, he said, was the Honda Pilot SUV car which he bought at N1.5 million, adding that he knew that it was stolen before he bought it.
Police public Relations Officer of the Anambra State police command, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka displayed various arms and ammunition recovered from the suspects.
According to him, the assistance of members of the public is most needed by providing useful information to the police in order to reduce criminalities to the barest minimum in the state.
