reports exclusively that an Orumba North Magistrate Court sitting at Ajalli
today jailed six youths from Oko Community for their roles in burning down of Chukwudi
Nwankwo’s Guest House at Amaokpala and Igwe Laz Ekwueme’s palace at Oko during
an alleged sponsored protest against the traditional ruler by some youths backed by alleged suspended members of the
community.
Those remanded at Aguata
Prison located at Ekwulobia are Ebuka Okoli, Tochukwu Ezeokafor , Ifeanyi
Ejikeme , Arinze Anyalogu , Chinedu Okeke and Jeremiah Nwafor. Many others
sought for arrest by a combined team of police from Nnewi Area command were at
large but the police have extended their dragnets to arrest all the fleeing
members.
The Chief Magistrate Agu
A.G , Mrs said she has no jurisdiction and remanded them till Monday next week
after they were reigned before her and even charged Ebuka Okoli for contempt of
court after he raised his voice against the Magistrate for saying they would
remain in Prison custody till Monday for
court with jurisdiction to preside. The contempt case comes up the same Monday

The alleged ring leaders

and entry , attempted murder in a case
brought against the Youths by the Oko community.
The police would have
allowed two suspended Oko community illustrious sons , one Ezeonwuka and Offoma
to facilitate their bails after arrest but the community insisted they must be
charged to court and at the end the police yielded to avoid complicating issues
more. They appeared before Magistrate Agu who after hearing their offences
remanded them as she lacks jurisdiction while frantic efforts by the said
fellows couldn’t help out.

reports that there is tension in Oko community , Orumba North local government
area since the Community led by the Traditional Ruler Igwe Laz Ekwueme and the
President General of the community Nwanmuo Cyprian engaged in an ego trip with
the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko Prof Godwin Onu.
That ego
trip led to so many alleged irresponsible acts and meddlesomeness on both parts
leading to a frosty relationship between the Prof Onu led administration and
the community led by Prof Ekwueme and Nwanmuo.
The community
divided into two with some supporting the Rector and others supporting the
community heightening tension that the community is insisting now that Prof Onu
must go either exchanged or removed but Prof Onu is appealing to their
