odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that following the order of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Mr Joseph Mbu, banning all protests and rallies within the Capital Territory over the abducted school girls of Federal Government Secondary school, Chibok, Borno State, a group, Voice to the people partners, yesterday, demands for his immediate sack or redeployment which they said, will forestall a repeat of such show of arrogance by other public Officers.


odogwuemekaodogwu.com further reports that Mbu, on Monday banned all protests in Abuja, explaining that some bad eggs in the country could use such rally to perpetuate crime in the FCT.

Though, the Inspector General of  Police, Mohammed Abubakar has reversed the order, participants at the 3-day capacity workshop for partners of the Voice to the People project, in a press briefing, held in Awka, Anambra state joined the world in bring back our girls campaign.

Judith Ezeanyika of the Civil Society Organization and Media Policy advocacy Network, Ms Eucharia Anekwe of JDPC, Awka,  Emma Agada Abah of Development in Practice and five others condemned in strong terms, the use of Nigerian Police to deny citizens their human rights.

“Participants condemn the attempt to use Nigeria Police to repress the effort of law abiding citizens to enforce their constitutional human rights, freedom of association and assembly to peacefully protest the delay by government to secure the release of the girls.

“We are also not happy that the Force headquarters on Tuesday, down played the statement by Mr. Joseph Mbu, demanding that disciplinary action should be taken against him as an example to others of his type in the force...” it said.
Barr. Judith Ezeanyika who read the resolutions of the participants, however called for Anambra girls to be given equal opportunity to acquire education that will empower them to compete favourably with their male counterparts in the state.

odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports “The girls and the spurious arguments presented by the abductors are opposed to the objectives of V2P and participants totally condemn this attempt to drag the nation back into the dark ages.
“Participants agreed that the education of the girls-child is non-negotiable in the face of the onslaught of the effects of globalization and its impacts in controlling economic opportunities needed for sustainable living.

“Participants emphasized that every child has a right to education as stipulated in the child’s Right Law of Anambra state 2006. We therefore call on the Federal Government to use all available means to ensure the safe return of the girls to their grieving parents” it
