Anambra To Make Ogbunike Cave World Class Tourist Centre; Spends N2bn On Road To Cave



odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that Anambra State government has awarded contracts worth about N2 billion on roads that traverse the Ogbunike community and one of the biggest tourist centres in the country, the Ogbunike cave.
  The government has also set the ball rolling for the transformation of the cave into a world class tourist attraction centre with feasibility studies underway.

odogwuemekaodogwu.com notes that the State Governor , Chief Willie Obiano broke the cheering news  at a Thanksgiving Mass  organized by Ogbunike Catholic Community  in honour of governor and his wife, Chief Ebelechukwu  Obiano  at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Church Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area.
Governor Obiano said that the government has already advertised for competent professionals to handle the feasibility study and explained that the tourist centre would have all the necessary facilities that would promote the cave and its environs as a tourist centre that includes standard hotel and recreation centres.

According to Obiano, “the contractor for the road project has been mobilized up to 30 percent of the contract sum while the project would be flagged off within the next two weeks. I believe that the roads when completed will open up the Ogbunike community and create both business and income generation opportunities for the youths in the area.”

Governor Obiano urged the community to be part of the state government’s agricultural programme geared towards achieving food sufficiency and food security for Ndi Anambra. He explained that land provided for farming by any community would be properly utilized to engage youths of communities in agriculture, while encouraging farmers to pull together in cooperative societies so as to receive free tractor service and farm inputs.

Obiano announced a personal donation of N2 million to support the Church building project and a bus to enhance their activities.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Anyasi prayed for both the governor and his wife and noted that the governor had sanitized the state within a short stay in office and put in place an effective security network.

Earlier, President-General of Ogbunike Town Union,   Alex Okoye said the governor had demonstrated commitment to transform the state and attract investment from within and outside the country.
Also in his welcome address, the Vice Chairman, Parish Council, Sir Joseph Ndu requested the governor to among others, assist in the completion of the abandoned General Hospital project  in the area, development of its rural water project, establishment of a comprehensive technical school and construction of link routes in the community.
