Can the Lagos State government
please make jungle justice a crime punishable by many years in prison? This
can’t continue happening. We as citizens can’t keep taking the laws into our
hands. Other wise innocent people will suffer too. The pics from this scene is
so gory, I don’t know if I should share it.
The woman pictured above was accused
of attempting to kidnap three primary school pupils in the Ekoro area of
Abule-Egba, Lagos yesterday May 6th. Eye-witnesses claim the woman stopped the
kids, who were aged 7-10 years as they were going to school, and asked to take
them to school.
Then a female hawker in the area,
suspecting the woman was up to no good, alerted others in the area who then
surrounded the woman and started asking her questions. They say the woman
claimed they were her children but couldn’t give their names and the direction
she was taking them wasn’t where their school was…plus the children said they
didn’t know her and before anyone could stop it, they descended on the woman.
Beating her to a stupor and then setting her ablaze.
Meanwhile, a man, who allegedly kidnapped two
children at Iyana-Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos State, was on Wednesday evening
burnt to death, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. An eyewitness, Yusuf Sanni, told NAN at the scene that the suspected kidnapper was caught with two children on Oshundairo Street in Iyana-Ipaja.
He said the man was first sighted on the street on Tuesday loitering around.
“This man was seen on the street wearing boxers and looking unkempt.
“We did not know he was coming back to kidnap the two children.
“It was one of the youths who noticed his movement around the children that raised an alarm while the man took to his heels,” Sanni said.
NAN reports that some policemen, who were at the scene, were not allowed by the mob to rescue the man before he was burnt.
A police officer, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that efforts to bring the situation under control were unsuccessful as the mob hurled stones at policemen.
He said, “They prevented us from gaining access to the suspect, threw stones at us and threatened to burn our vehicle.”
NAN reports that the two children had been re-united with their mother
