A
Committee of Ward chairmen of All Progressives Grand Alliance( APGA) in Awka
South Local Government Area of Anambra state has dismissed the vote of no
confidence earlier passed on House of Representatives member for Awka
South/ North,Mr. Emeke Nwogbo, over non- performance.
In a communique issued at the end of its meeting in Awka, Anambra state capital, the stakeholders said the group that passed the vote of no confidence lacked the locus to take such decision affecting a member of the National Executive Committee(NEC) of APGA.
The communique signed by Mr. Agunwa Ndubuisi read in part: “The decision passed by the group is illegal and does not conform with the party’s constitution because as the higher office holder and elected federal lawmaker, Hon Emeke Nwogbo has remained the only leader of APGA in Awka South and Awka North federal constituency. People parading themselves as leaders of the party are usurpers and we advise them to desist from such misconduct.
“APGA is
open for anybody who wishes to contest for any elective position, but that
person must pass through due process of party primaries. As stakeholders, we will
resist any undemocratic process of imposition or anointed candidacy or hand
picked candidate by any group no matter how highly placed.
“We have
seen the achievements and performance of Hon Emeke Nwogbo in our federal
constituency and we make bold to say that he has done much better that all
others who have represented us in the national assembly in the past.”
The
stakeholders vowed to support Nwogbo's re-election if he wished to
contest in 2015, adding that their representative had proved to be responsive.
Recall
that a group led by an APGA chieftain in the area, Chief Austin Ndigwe last
week passed a vote of no confidence on Representative Nwogbo, harping that
there was nothing on ground to show for his presence in the National Assembly.
