The people of Eziudo
community in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State were recently thrown into
confusion recently following the untimely death of two love birds in the
community.
Forty-two year old, Mr
Wilson Ugwunna believed to have returned from Malaysia came home with a 44 year
old female banker lover, Mrs Adejoke Ayeola and had introduced her to his
kinsmen as a fiancée. Naturally, the traditional hospitality, of Mbaise people
was on their would-be wife.
On that fateful
Saturday, April 25,2014, Wilson, a father of two who had abandoned his wife for
about three years went to bed with his lover, Mrs Adejoke Ayeola also a mother
of two and wife of the traditional ruler of Iperu Remo in Ogun state
Tragedy struck when in
the morning the two love birds had not come out, a scene that drew the
attention of Wilson’s family members.
The room where they
slept was forced open, lo! and behold Adejoke’s body had started decomposing
while Wilson was in a deep coma. Wilson was quickly rushed to Obizie People
Medical centre for medical attention.
According to the
Director of the Medical Centre, Dr Ohanyere Alex Chibuike, “I repeated series
of tests and got convinced that their problem was caused by carbon monoxide
they inhaled from a generating set throughout the night.
But indigenes of Eziudo
community who expressed surprise at the entire drama, strongly believed that
Adejoke being a Yoruba woman may have been caught by “Magun” (a Yoruba charm
usually set against a wife suspected to be having illicit affairs since the
practice is common in Yoruba.
In his remarks, the
traditional ruler of Eziudo community, Eze Desmond Oguguo (known for his
outspokeness) confirmed the incident, a source said.
Eze Oguguo recalled that
on Saturday, April 26th, Wilson who claimed to have returned from Malaysia
brought a Yoruba lady home from Lagos and introduced her as his future wife
despite the fact that he already had a wife and two children whom he had
abandoned for almost three years now.
The monarch vehemently
described Wilson’s attitude as grossly shameful.
Although Wilson later
died, both corpses were deposited in a hospital mortuary by Police, a member of
Eziudo community disclosed that the lady’s husband had come to collect his late
wife’s corpse to Yoruba land.
Meanwhile, the Director
of the Medical Hospital said the deceased family of Wilson were yet to pay the
hospital bills and collect his corpse for burial. People of Eziudo are still in
shock especially when they recall that on the day Adejoke’s corpse was being
removed to the hospital, her eyes were bulging out of the sockets, her face
swollen and her tongue gushing out.
“I could not bear the
sight, she looked like a dragon”, one of them said
When contacted, Police
Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, DSP confirmed the incident but ruled
out the theory of “Magun” stating that the deceased may be victims of fumes
inhaled from a generator.
