National
Union of Petroleum and Gas Workers (NUPENG) has warned its members under
Surface Tankers Kerosene Peddlers (SUKATEP) to always source their products
from credible sources and avoid the temptation of engaging in product
adulteration.
The
warning was given yesterday by the SUKATEP National Chairman of NUPENG, Comrade
Rotimi Benjamin while performing the maiden inauguration of Anambra State
Executive of NUPENG in Onitsha.
Comrade
Rotimi who was flanked by other national officers of NUPENG charged the new
members to carry out their businesses accordingly to law and desist from
sourcing their products from vandals.
He
maintained that oil bunkering and vandalisation of pipelines were flourishing
simply because some of the vandals have ready buyers of their stolen products
and urged them to be focused in their business to avoid victimization.
In his
remark, Port Harcourt Zonal Chairman of NUPENG, Comrade Godwin Eruba reminded
the new state members of NUPENG the need to be good ambassadors of labour and
emphasized that as a recognized labour union, NUPENG would always protect the
interest of her members. He reiterated the need for workers to demand their
rights at all times.
In an
acceptance speech the new state chairman of NUPENG, SUTAKEP unit, Comrade Eric
Ugwummadu, however, promised to join in the fight against adulterated kerosene
product, adding that the protection of members in their legitimate business
would be one of his major priorities.
