LOKOJA – Unknown gunmen on Tuesday night invaded the palace of the Ojikpada
Egume, in Dekina Local Government area of the State, killing the traditional
ruler, Chief Isah Edimeh and one other vigilante leader in the area, Mohammed
Wada.
Confirming the incidents Wednesday,
the State Commissioner of Police, Sa’idu Madawaki said the killers who struck
around 9 pm, dragged Edime; a former Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial
aspirant in the state, to the road and shot him dead.
The CP disclosed that Edime; who was
also a former Director of FRCN, had last year reported to the police of a
threat to his life; a case file Madawaki said he was about to re-open before
the assassins took the monarch’s life.
According to the CP: “It is
confirmed. The case is still under investigation. The man had come to report
about a case of threat to his life in 2013. I came to know about it today.
Because I was not the CP then.
“He was shot. I saw signs of blood,
there was blood stain. They took him from the village and took him near the
road. When they came they were speaking Igalla language.” Madawaki stressed.
The gunmen who were said to have
came in a Sienna car also attacked the house of the head of the village
vigilante group, Mohammed Wada where he was killed while observing his night
