Chief Maxi Okwu has lamented what he saw as multiple law and
distractions on the party.
He therefore urged party faithful nationwide to pray for divine
intervention over the protracted court cases the party has been thrown
into by those he described as “the enemies of APGA”.
Okwu who was reacting yesterday over the further adjournment of the
matter pending at the Federal High Court, Abuja said that there is
need for the members of the party to continue to keep faith and pray
for justice to prevail.
According to him, an early resolution of the matter would do the party
and his executive a lot of good as there cannot be any meaningful
development or progress in an environment devoid of peace.
The Deputy National chairman(North), Mallam Sadiq Masalla assured that
the party would emerge victorious in the battery of law suits it was
thrown into by unpatriotic members who he sees as placing themselves
and interests above the party and national interest.
He called on members and Nigerians all over the world to undertake
special prayers with a view to saving the country from the current
spate of bombings and insecurity rocking the nation.
The Anambra state chapter chairman of the party, Hon Shedrak Anakwue
has expressed his preparedness to give a befitting secretariat to APGA
in the state. He said that it is no longer acceptable that the party
is still talking about rented apartment after eight consecutive years
of being in power in Anambra state.
Anakwue described the situation as “unfortunate and a manifestation of
the recklessness of the previous leadership of the party in the
state”. He pointed out that the present restructuring the party is
undergoing under his leadership has led to joining of the party by
many new members and the return of those that left when they could no
longer stand the high handedness and rascality of the past leadership.
Meanwhile Justice Ahmed Mohammed of Federal High Court Abuja has
adjourned till June 19 for further hearing the pending matter before
his court on the leadership tussle between Chiefs Maxi Okwu and Victor
Umeh-led executives.
The matter was adjourned as a result of an application brought by the
counsel to the plaintiff(Umeh), Tayo Oladikola (SAN) who pleaded for
more time to enable him attend to some urgent family matters.
