Governor Obiano Tasks Society For Peace And Mutual Coexistence To End Boko Haram

Governor Willie Obiano yesterday tasked the Society for Peace and Mutual Coexistence, Nigeria (SPMC), an International Non Profit making organization advocating peace around the world to work in synergy with other organizations to restore peace to the North East Nigeria.

Obiano spoke when the SPMC also known as Peace Ambassadors bestowed a certificate of recognition to his Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe as a Peace Ambassador for his roles in maintaining peace while in office as Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East local government area. 

Governor Obiano said if youths should embrace peace and intensify efforts to reach out with peace to other youths that there would be relative peace , development and growth in the North East rather than this maiming , destruction and kidnapping by Boko Haram members presumed to be youths.

Obiano’s views were presented by his Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe while receiving the certificate of recognition and honour from the Society For Peace and Mutual Coexistence (SPMC) led by the President of the SPMC, James Lawson in his office at the government house Awka.

Obidigwe insisted said he was surprised to be recognized and decorated as a peace Ambassador by the youth group unsolicited as all he did while in the local government was to enthrone peace as he could have taken his people to war with Kogi state claiming the oil facilities at his territory but he chose the way of peace not knowing he was monitored.

He dedicated the recognition and certificate to Governor Willie Obiano for bringing peace to Anambra after the former Governor, Peter Obi maintained peace , adding that he hoped the peace is sustained in Anambra state.

He assured that he would work in synergy with  various youth organizations and peace initiatives to maintain peace in the state together with a new youth organization United Anambra Youth Assembly  to intensify efforts geared at maintaining the peace .

‘’Obiano is a man of the people , Onitsha has been sanitized. You can now move about freely in Onitsha. I could have allowed the youths to take up arms against the people of Ibaji local government area in Kogi state having provoked our sensibilities but we chose the part of peace as a people especially the youths of Aguleri-otu and we continued calling on the state government and Federal government to determine the boundaries’’.

He challenged the Peace Ambassadors to initiate moves that would end the crisis in the country because the foundation of the nation now is shaky and the threats are championed by youths adding that with special arrangement Boko Haram can change but maintained that Governor Obiano being a peace loving man would continue to maintain peace in Anambra state .

  

The Governor’s SA on Youth mobilization insisted that youths can change the country if all channel their resourcefulness to good tidings than evil.

Presenting the certificate of recognition and  honour  as a Peace Ambassador to the Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization , Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe ,  President of the Society for peace and Mutual Coexistence , Ambassador James Lawson said Obiano’s leadership in Anambra has achieved a good level of peace and one of the most peaceful in the country based on empirical records over a period of time.

Lawson said: ‘’ we monitored happenings in Anambra and we discovered that security in Anambra state has taken a very positive dimension. We spoke with kidnappers, bank robbers and people in detention and discovered that Anambra is working. Your government system in Anambra is second to none. We are not giving you an award but a recognition and a certificate because we are not registered as an award giving organization but as a social organization. We are giving you an official recognition letter for contributing to a violence free society. And on behalf of the Board of Directors we recognize you as a peace fellow and Ambassador of peace’’.

He said 618 already have the recognition before Comrade Obidigwe who is the 619^th person adding that he was not buying it neither are they selling it and told the crowd that he was not aware of the honour till they came visiting. He urged him to dedicate himself for peace at all times.

Contributing, the Director Mobilization, Society for peace and mutual coexistence (SPMC),  Ambassador Ifeanyi Aniagoh who said a group of young Nigerians between the ages of 20 and 40 numbering over 7,000 met online and formed the group with sole aim of championing peace around the world by catching peace Ambassadors young. He said they have two reasons to be in Anambra for their annual Charity tour and fun tour that would take them to Agulu Lake , Ogbunike lake among other places of interest in Anambra.

Aniagoh said the honour came after a thorough competition in various sectors before Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe emerged tops for his roles at Ebonyi state University students unionism , his leadership as APGA youth and his roles at the threatened Ibaji and Anambra East oil war.

He said traditional ruler of Abagana , OC SARS , James Nwafor and Hon Tony Muonagor (Tony One week) of Anambra state House of Assembly as well as Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe were those having the pin of Peace Ambassadors in Anambra state.
