A Driver And His Swollen Eye: Prayer Of A Troubled Mind Courtesy Of Kote Onungwe Obe-Eleme

This ought be a personal prayer. But permit me to invite u to help ask God for forgiveness. I was in a bus in Lagos headed for church when an altercation ensued between the bus conductor and two young men over a N50 difference in fare. 

I could have intervened and saved the day before it degenerated into fisticuffs. But I refrained and only came in too late. The driver had been bloodied with a swollen eye, the boys had their bags and shirts torn. The passengers discharged losing the fare they had paid and all the time wasted. It was eventually resolved to take the driver to the FRSC hospital down the road. Because I was late already to church, I abandoned them. I could have picked their bills, given them money for medication and talked to them about God, Jesus, love, sacrifice, forgiveness and duty of care. But I lost it all because I was hurrying to church. On the way at Ojota, a long standing friend called to tell me of the death of her husband in an accident. I was further distressed. I could not have got a better blessing. I am troubled. I pray God forgives and touches the hearts of the driver, conductor and the two young men who have to go through all these pains because I failed to care. Thank you.
