177 Communities Presidents General Tasked On Peace And Security

                                  
Community leaders under the auspices of Anambra state Association of Town Unions (ASATU) led by Chief Jude Okolo in the 177 communities in Anmabra state yesterday got a red alert to ensure peace and unity exist in their communities or loose out from Government patronage. 
 
They were also encouraged to ensure insecurity is not witnessed in any level in their abodes and to resolve all issues that would pitch them against their traditional rulers to ensure urchins don’t take advantage to cause mayhem in their communities.
Representative of Governor Willie Obiano/Former Comissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Chief Dubem Obaze  gave the advise during a capacity workshop for Anambra state Association of Town Unions (ASATU)  yesterday at Trig Point hotel Nibo. He commended President General of ASATU , Chief Jude Okolo, who is also President General of Oraifite Town Union of piloting the brand new ASATU with decorum so far.
Obaze who gave them lecture on ‘’Public Meeting procedures and Public Etiquette for public officers harped on need for humility, loyalty to good cause, neatness and punctuality at scheduled meetings either for community and for the ASATU, pointing out on the need for ASATU to build itself as an institution that will outlive its founders even 50 years after.
He reminded them how insecurity troubled Governor Willie Obiano that he is doing everything possible to ensure Anambra is a destination point where investors and fun seekers would be thronging sequel to assured security . He added that the best any President General could do is to ensure security in his domain and have enough reasons to request for one government action or the other to be taken in his community.
He said there is nothing like development and growth in the economy with insecurity and crisis hence they must go out of their way to ensure there is no crisis and insecurity in their communities.  He appealed for their support to Governor Willie Obiano to succeed in moving Anambra to the next level.
Obaze said: ‘’I urge you to go out of your way to ensure peace is in your community and ensure every friction is handled appropriately. We must begin to checkmate insecurity be having a direction in your community. Let there be something tangible you have achieved for your community. .. ‘’.
He cautioned them over reacting with anger and carrying themselves as if they are irresponsible when they suppose to be role models both in their community and outside their community.     
Contributing, the Commissioner for Works, Mr Calistus Ilozumba called for proper understanding between the Igwe and the President General in communities for stability and peace to be in the communities. He lamented that Boko Haram is spreading and community leaders must be awake to their responsibilities to ensure they are on top of their communities security wise and help Governor Obiano actualize peace and security he is putting every thing to ensure he gets.
Ilozumba who literally wept that our youths who are not in school find it extremely difficult to learn trade or even do apprentice lamented that soonest our inheritance would be in the hands of foreigners who have taken over of doing what our youths suppose to be doing. He decried a situation graduates resort to doing PA’s for political office holders without thinking for their own  future after the PA stuff.
National President of ASATU, Chief Jude Okolo who was a former House of Assembly member and Special Adviser in Ebonyi state as well as President General of Oraifite assured that by God’s grace the communities would maintain the peace and unity and find the best ways of resolving rifts between the monarchs and President Generals in  some communities. He said soonest the union would have a website  with pictures and contacts of all the towns President Generals for easy assess and mobilization even as he cautioned those meddling with social welfare scheme of the old people in their communities  and palliative funds to desist from such humiliating acts of tampering with the funds, pointing out that anybody coming to be President General should see it as a thankless job of the community and therefore must have source of income before answering the call and  not depending on the community’s fund to survive.
