Over 2000 Okada Riders, Artisans And Traders Storm Nnewi North For Ojukwu's Reception As Sole Administrator

                                                    

Over 2000 Okada riders, artisans and traders at the weekend in Nnewi, Amambra State thronged the country home of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu for a solidarity rally over the appointment last Wednesday to his son, Ojukwu (Jnr) as the Sole Administrator of Nnewi North Council Area.

The rally began with a motorcade from Izuchukwu Junction, Nnewi through the Nkwo Triangle and the Roundabout to the residence of the late Ikemba as the officials of the Anambra State Road Traffic Agency had a hectic period controlling the crowd. On arrival at the large compound, Ojukwu (Jnr) and a few of his relations moved straight to the late Ikemba's tomb to pay homage to his spirit.

Addressing the crowd, the new Nnewi North Council Area Sole Administrator said he saw his appointment by Governor Willie Obiano as an opportunity to serve his people at the grassroots, adding that it would be a period of reconciliation and called for total support to his administration irrespective of party affiliation.

"Nnewi belongs to all of us. My task is to reconcile aggrieved parties. Even though I'm a product of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), I'm an Nnewi man in the first place. I will represent all shades of opinion and carry everybody along with truth and honesty. Mine will be an open door policy," Ojukwu (Jnr) pledged to his people.

He said he would talk to the stakeholders in the Council Area including the church and various interest groups to ascertain the areas of need.  He said that youth empowerment, creation of education opportunities, creation of enabling environment for the evolution of small and medium scale industries and sanitation would be among the areas he would focus as well as the over all development of Anambra State. Ojukwu (Jnr) also promised that his administration would pay attention to the less privileged in the Council Area. "There will be no we and them, there will only be us," he concluded.
