The crisis in Oko Community is taking a dangerous dimension as the Management of the Polytechnic led by Prof Godwin Onu suspended some staff from the Oko Community. They were allegedly suspended indefinitely without pay.
Those confirmed to have been affected were the President General of Oko community and a staff of Public Admin in the Polytechnic , Chief Cyprian Nwanmuo and another indigene in Urban and Regional Department who was the victim of arson by purported Oko youths that burnt down his guest house, Mr Mete Mete Nwankwo.
odogwuemekaodogwu.com could not ascertain the reasons for their suspension but insider sources said it was because of their roles in supporting the Traditional ruler of Oko , Igwe Laz Ekwueme against the Rector in the battle against second tenure of the Rector.
Nwankwo confirmed the suspension, saying it is baffling that such is happening in a democratic setting. Nwanmuo could be reached as at press time.
The Rector of the Polytechnic , Prof Godwin Onu could not be reached as his number was not going through while the calls to the mobile phone of the Public Relations Officer , Obini Onuchukwu was not picked.
