MASSOB Declares Biafran National Day 30th May, Honours Ojukwu, Mbakwe and Biafran Heroes

                         

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday said over 10 million people across the world will converge in Imo state when it declares Biafra National day celebration on 30^th May, 2014

  at MASSOB Freedom Square, Okwe, Imo state.        

A press statement by the MASSOB Deputy National Director Information, Comrade Uchenna Madu and Chairman, Media and Publicity Chief Larry Odinma said the National day celebration is aimed at showcasing / celebrating those that has at one time or the other made tremendous sacrifices for the over-all interest of the Eastern Region and her people, therefore encouraging others to emulate and follow these footsteps.

The event which shall be celebrating and showcasing the exploits of the following Heroes of our land: Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Gen. Philip Efiong, Chief Dr. Ralph Uwazuruike, Chief Mbonu Ojike, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Michael okpara, Ezeogo Francis Akanu Ibiam, Sir Nwafo Orizu, Chief Sam Mbakwe, Others are Chief Asari Dokubo, Isaac Adaka Boro, Ken Saro Wiwa, Sen. Uchechukwu Merije, Chief Orji Uzoh Kalu, Gov. Peter Obi, Chief Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, Philip Emeagwali, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, Chimamanda Adiche, Chinua Achebe, Sen. Igwe Nwogu, Chief Ifeanyi Uba, Gov. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, Sir Emeka Offor,  and Chief Mrs. Magret Ekpo among others.

Part of the statement read in part: ‘’Many prominent Easterners participated actively and champion the    struggle for Nigeria Independence, some stood against the political odds against Igbos and Easterners in general, some eloquently fought against Nigeria Federal Govt. aggression against Biafrans.

          ‘’In many field of life, numerous extraordinary people of the East showcased their potentials in defending, fighting, promoting and developing the integrity, culture, tradition, prestige, honour and creativity of the people of Eastern Region-Biafra.

                    ‘’The Ceremony which gathers about ten (10) Million Easterners shall feature such event such as: Citations, The unveiling of the Hall of fame, Great achievers and the exploits of the Eastern Heroes’’.
