JAMB: Candidate s Cry Over N1,500 Scratch Card Charge

                           

Despite that only 47 per cent out of the 1,015,504 candidates that wrote the 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted on Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and Dual Based Test (DBT) scored 250 marks and above out of a maximum 400 marks, candidates have continued to lament over the N1, 500 new mandatory card for checking of results.

They students said before now the candidates check the results with only their registration numbers and print with highest N100 but JAMB introduced N1,300 cards while cyber café sells N1,500.

Those who could not afford it are crying and weeping over how to get the money but when they eventually got the cash , many failed to score above the cut off which is 200.  

The exam took place last Saturday, with JAMB promising to release the result within four days. A total of 1,606,753 candidates applied for the examination, which held in 392 examination towns in Nigeria and seven foreign centres.

It did not, however, hold in Nigeria’s troubled North-East because of the Boko Haram insurgency in the region, with JAMB promising to organize it for the 400 candidates from the area at a later date.
