Igwe Ekwueme Re-Surfaces ,Speaks , Anambra Traditional Rulers Interven

                                                              

Anamabra council of Traditional rulers yesterday called oon the Anambra state Governor , Chief Wilie Obiano to set up a judicial panel of Inquiry to immediately look into the mayhem that befell Oko Community which led to torching of the three vehicles of Igwe Laz Ekwueme, a professor of Music .

The traditional rulers spoke at the Anambra state Government House after its  general meeting even as the Igwe of Oko resurfaced attended the meeting. He wants  Governor Obiano to set up a panel of enquiry to quickly look into the long drawn
standoff which he alleged was being fuelled by the Rector of the
Federal Polytechnic in the town. This allegation Prof Onu had seevrally distanced himself from saying he was busy doing his job at Oko Polytechnic.  

Prof Ekwueme speaking for the first time since the incident, said his life was in serious danger and appealed to the Governor, Chief Obiano to provide him with adequate security.

He alleged that some leaders were beaten up by the rampaging army of ostensibly hired
youths who were suspected to have been procured to unleash mayhem on
the town and her citizens.

Regretably Igwe Ekwueme was selective on the media tghat he would speak to especially the electronic media.

 
According to him, things got to a head over the weekend when some
listed 13 persons insisted on flouting a collective resolution of the
community banning masquerades in the 2014 annual Afia Olu celebration.

‘’That when the outlaws evidently overwhelmed the police, Army was then
brought in and one of then was injured when they dared the soldiers
and attacked his palace. From then, hell was let loose and they went
about the community destroying properties of persons they suspect to
be on the side of the monarch.

Meanwhile, reports had in that the youths of Oko community stormed government house Awka to protest against the monarch Igwe Laz Ekwueme but the Governor Chief Obiano was not immedialtely avaialble as tghey were addressed by SSA Media James Eze who urfged them to return tomorrow with artculation of what they want.
